Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to manage and oversee daily accounting activities for the Covering Solutions Business Unit. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The covering solutions business unit currently operates under Clarience Technologies (formerly SafeFleet) and is comprised of 3 Brands within the Commercial Vehicle Industry known as Vango, Roll-Rite & Pull Tarps. This position has flexibility to be located onsite in either Verona, PA or Gladwin, MI
Roll• Rite is the leading manufacturer of electric tarp systems, tarps, gear motor technology and automated power solutions. Roll Rite, LLC designs and manufactures state-of-the-art automated tarp systems and components for the heavy-duty trucking industry serving the Construction, Agriculture, Refuse & Recycling Markets. Roll-Rite's main facility is currently located in Gladwin, MI.
Vango, formerly Merlot Vango, has earned the reputation as the most durable and easiest-to-operate rolling tarp system on America's highways. Since 1960, they've been constructing innovative products from the highest quality materials. Vango is a leader in today's tarpaulin industry, meeting the needs of its customers in both quality and customer satisfaction. Vango supplies its national distributors and stock warehouses with superior solutions. As rolling tarp systems have replaced side kits as the preferred method for covering flatbed freight, the Vango is fast becoming the #1 rolling tarp system on the market today. Vango's main facility is currently located in Verona, PA.
Pulltarps® was founded in September of 1990 by Lynn Chenowth. At the time, Lynn was known for Chenowth Racing and his development of the Chenowth Fast Attack Vehicles used in the Kuwait war. Early that year, Chenowth was approached by a friend who owned a local trucking company about a tarping system without arms. Soon after, the original Pull Tarp spring-return truck tarping system was born. Pulltarps main facility is in El Cajon, CA.
Essential Responsibilities and Functions
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Facilitate the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Execute the weekly payment run process with Accounts Payable
  • Support Operations Leaders with key KPI reporting & metrics to determine cost savings opportunities or improvements
  • Lead the weekly cash flow forecast
  • Perform financial analysis to determine trends, estimates, significant changes, and provide narratives explaining findings
  • Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers
  • Assist the finance director with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Lead key projects with the ERP system and determine efficiency improvements
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules
  • Analyze complex accounting issues and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial operations including purchasing, operations, and engineering
  • Set standard costs of manufactured goods including overhead rates and standard material costs.
  • Develop and analyze cost standards within the budgeting process
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with ERP systems. Oracle is a Plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the time to visit remote facilities. If located in Verona, PA, regular travel is required to Gladwin, MI. If located in Gladwin MI, regular travel is required to Verona, PA
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule during key deadlines such as Month, Quarter, & Year End
  • Past manager experience preferred.
  • Direct reports include A/P, & staff accounting team.
