Position Title: Chef de Cuisine
Location: Maison Tara, Manhattan, New York
Reports To: Owner & Operations manager

We combine high-quality ingredients with thoughtful hospitality to create memorable dining and catering experiences for both everyday guests and private clients.

Position Summary

Maison Tara is seeking a creative, organized, and hands-on Chef to lead all culinary operations for both the café and catering divisions. The ideal candidate is passionate about seasonal cooking, efficient kitchen management, and building a strong kitchen culture. This role requires leadership, creativity, operational discipline, and the ability to maintain exceptional food quality in a fast-paced environment.

Executive chefs are typically responsible for staff leadership, kitchen operations, food quality, inventory management, and cost controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service execution
  • Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portion standards
  • Manage food costing, inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships
  • Hire, train, schedule, and mentor kitchen staff
  • Ensure compliance with NYC health, sanitation, and food safety regulations
  • Oversee prep production and catering event execution
  • Collaborate with ownership on business growth, menu strategy, and special events
  • Create recipes and systems to improve kitchen efficiency and consistency
  • Monitor labor costs and kitchen performance metrics
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and positive kitchen environment

Executive chefs commonly oversee staffing, menu development, budgeting, inventory, and food safety while maintaining operational efficiency and culinary standards.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership kitchen role
  • Experience with both restaurant service and catering operations preferred
  • Strong culinary skills with attention to detail and presentation
