Job description

The Machinist is an advanced-level position responsible for performing jobs involving servicing and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team.  Examples of the types of operations the candidate must be able to perform include boring, facing, milling, tapping, burning, and welding.  The candidate must be able to operate portable line boring, numeric control, computer numeric control, mill, and lathe machines.  Extensive on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed as required.  The Machinist will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner.

 
  • Plans and performs repairs using correct tools and procedures
  • Performs the machining and welding tasks on major components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and frame
  • Performs modifications using drawings or blueprints
  • Handles programming, setup, and operation of all machines in work area, including CNC Mill
  • Orders and returns parts for assigned jobs in timely manner
  • Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
  • Mentors less experienced machinists as required
