Clinical Office Specialist

$250 Hiring Bonus!!

Tanner Clinic is currently hiring for multiple Full-Time and Part-Time Clinical Office Specialist positions across several specialties and locations. Applicants will be considered for either a Clinical Office Specialist I (COS I) or Clinical Office Specialist II (COS II) position based on their certifications, qualifications, and clinic needs.

Clinical Office Specialist I (COS I)

Full-Time

  • Layton Antelope B – Plastic Surgery
  • South Ogden – Gastroenterology (Phlebotomy Certification Required)

Clinical Office Specialist II (COS II)

Part-Time

  • Layton Antelope A – ENT

Full-Time

  • South Ogden – Gastroenterology
  • Layton Antelope B – IS&P
  • Layton Antelope B – Plastic Surgery

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Receive phone calls and respond to patient concerns.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for prescriptions and procedures.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments for physician.
  • Assist with other office duties as needed.
  • Room patients, perform vital signs and obtain patient medical histories.
  • Stocking/cleaning exam rooms and office.
  • No invasive procedures approved – phlebotomy, injections, IV's, catheters, etc
  • Phlebotomy work (if certified)
  • Other duties approved by supervisor

Requirements

Education:

  • COS I - C.N.A certification or Basic EMT certification or Phlebotomy certification required
  • COS II - C.N.A certification or Basic EMT certification and Phlebotomy certification required

Other Requirements:

  • One or more years health care experience preferred.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Understand prior authorizations and the referral process.
  • Understand templates that pertain to information received from the patient and be able to create an appointment in NextGen with appropriate protocols.
  • Complete credentialing test yearly.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Understand and perform blood pressure measurements and vital signs.

Abilities:

  • Able to work in stressful situations.
  • Able to prioritize patients and needs of office.
  • Good organization skills including able to maintain office flow.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and Providers.

Equipment Operated:

  • Standard medical exam/office equipment, which may include computerized health information management system for medical records, blood pressure machine, scales, etc.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Well-lighted, well-ventilated, adequate space.
  • Mental/Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc.
    • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies.
    • Occasional stress from dealing with many staff and patients.
