Job description

Title; Desktop Engineer 

Location: Rosemont IL      

Duration:  5 Months.                     

This is  100% onsite role.  Exceptional candidates can work Hybrid  (On-site 3 days/week) Rosemont, IL

Key Responsibilities

  • Vulnerability & System Management: Own and drive desktop vulnerability management, patch deployment, and overall system security.
  • OS Deployment & Upgrades: Lead system upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Build, troubleshoot, and optimize standard enterprise desktop images to improve overall user experience.
  • Policy Management: Manage and configure Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) specifically tailored for desktop environments.
  • Tanium Pilot Support: Support and advance the ongoing pilot and implementation of Tanium across the desktop environment.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Act as the technical cornerstone for the team—guiding, coaching, and troubleshooting alongside junior team members.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Experience Level: Senior/Lead Engineer (SME status in Desktop/EUC engineering).
  • OS Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Windows 11 deployment, imaging, and troubleshooting.
  • Tooling: Direct experience with Tanium is highly preferred and considered a major differentiator.
  • Infrastructure: Strong expertise in Active Directory and GPO management for desktop environments.
  • Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who can come in, see the problems, and start designing and solving with zero hand-holding.
