Job Description:

We Are Seeking an experienced Radio Engineer to support the development, programming, deployment, and maintenance of mission-critical public safety radio communication systems. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining radio programming templates, managing radio identifiers, talkgroups, and encryption configurations, and supporting the programming and deployment of P25 radio systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in public safety radio communications, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting critical operational needs.

Responsibilities:

·         Develop, maintain, and manage radio programming templates for P25 radio systems.

·         Identify programming requirements through customer requests, operational changes, and system enhancements.

·         Build, test, validate, and deploy radio programming templates for field use.

·         Request and manage Radio IDs, Talkgroup IDs, and encryption keys required for radio programming.

·         Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure programming accuracy and eliminate configuration errors.

·         Coordinate radio reprogramming efforts with field personnel and technical teams.

·         Program radios with appropriate templates, firmware, and encryption configurations.

·         Provide technical support to field staff for radio programming, troubleshooting, and deployment activities.

·         Maintain accurate equipment records and asset information within enterprise asset management systems and supporting databases.

·         Compile, validate, and update equipment inventories and associated billing information.

·         Support investigations related to radio system performance and operational issues.

·         Evaluate new radio hardware and programming software for compliance with technical and performance standards.

·         Test new programming tools and provide technical support during software implementations.

·         Respond to requests for information regarding radio templates, programming records, and asset data.

·         Maintain documentation, activity reports, and operational records.

·         Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders while supporting ongoing technical initiatives.

·         Perform additional technical and operational duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

·         Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Radio or Communications Technician.

·         Minimum of 2 years of experience programming P25 radio systems, including Motorola and Kenwood platforms.

·         Experience developing and managing radio programming templates.

·         Experience with radio IDs, Talkgroups, and encryption management.

·         Strong computer skills with experience entering and maintaining accurate data within asset management systems and databases.

·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·         Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience supporting military, public safety, or emergency communications environments.

·         Experience working with two-way radio systems.

·         Experience with P25 encryption technologies, including Key Management Facility (KMF) and AES encryption.

·         FCC General Radiotelephone License, APCO Certification, or equivalent industry certification.

·         Experience supporting enterprise radio communications infrastructure and field deployments.

·         Familiarity with enterprise asset management systems and Microsoft Access and Excel.

·         Ability to support field operations, testing, and deployment activities as needed, including occasional travel using a personal vehicle.
