Job description

General Manager – Regional Roofing Operations

Location: Central Coast, California (Paso Robles / San Luis Obispo Area)
Position Type: Full-Time | Executive Leadership
Reports To: Executive Leadership

Position Overview

An established and growing roofing contractor is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the launch and growth of a new regional branch serving California's Central Coast.

This is an entrepreneurial leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys building a business, developing a strong local team, and driving profitable growth. The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the operation, including business development, estimating, project operations, financial performance, and team leadership.

The successful candidate will have extensive roofing industry experience, strong business development skills, and a proven ability to manage branch operations while delivering exceptional customer service and financial results.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and grow the local commercial and residential roofing market.
  • Build lasting relationships with property managers, general contractors, developers, facility managers, and building owners.
  • Generate new business through networking, referrals, industry associations, and strategic sales efforts.
  • Represent the company professionally within the local business community.

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Prepare accurate roofing estimates and proposals for commercial and residential projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, and perform material takeoffs.
  • Develop competitive pricing while protecting company profit margins.
  • Present proposals, negotiate contracts, and successfully close projects.

Financial Management

  • Assume full responsibility for branch financial performance.
  • Manage budgets, overhead, profitability, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Monitor project billing, collections, cash flow, and financial reporting.
  • Track key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve branch performance.

Operations Leadership

  • Lead daily branch operations and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Supervise Project Managers, Superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, and office staff.
  • Coordinate labor planning, scheduling, equipment, and material resources.
  • Develop and mentor team members while creating a positive, accountable culture.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and applicable state and local regulations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience within the commercial and/or residential roofing industry.
  • Previous experience managing branch operations, business units, or multiple departments.
  • Strong background in roofing estimating, sales, and project management.
  • Demonstrated success growing revenue while maintaining healthy profit margins.
  • Solid understanding of construction accounting, budgeting, project financials, and cash flow management.
  • Working knowledge of low-slope and steep-slope roofing systems, waterproofing, and applicable building codes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated professional capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally as needed.
