Job description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Maintenance Leader is responsible for driving maintenance practices to best in class levels in a 24/7 continuous operation setting. The Maintenance Leader has responsibility for plant capital projects. They will also be the Planned Maintenance Pillar Leader for TPM. This position will lead a Maintenance Team comprised of mainly hourly employees. The position is accountable to deliver stable and reliable plant operations with a focus on safety, people development, quality, productivity, and cost.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, training, development and engagement of all maintenance employees. In addition, they must demonstrate a proven track record of leadership and sustained performance associated with plant maintenance programs and operations. Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, driving change and achieving results through employee engagement are required.
Reports to: Rockford Plant Leader and will be a member of the Plant Leadership Team.
Span of Control: The Rockford Plant has approximately 74 employees with two manufacturing lines. The Maintenance Leader will lead a team of 1 maintenance planner & approximately 9 hourly employees.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Living the safety/environmental stand and ensuring safe maintenance practices
  • Leads comprehensive and strict execution for safe maintenance work in accordance to OC standards; Ensuring a safe, clean environmentally compliant work environment and building a culture where safety is always a priority.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to support, improve, and enforce various safety programs at the plant (LTT, confined space, PIV, etc...)
  • Prioritizes and executes environmental, health, and safety hazard elimination through OC's Reliability Work Process
  • Developing risk assessments and safe plans of action for critical tasks
  • Training and developing employees to safely perform their jobs
  • Participates in work area self-inspections and accident investigations as well as recommends corrective actions to make the workplace safer
  • Leads and supports safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries and zero incidents

Development and Execution of Plant Maintenance Strategy
  • Serves as full owner of all maintenance strategies and plans; focused on meeting business needs
  • Prepares capital budget forecasts and effectively manages all capital projects/installations holding to committed results and outcomes
  • Leverages both internal and external resources and experts to improve and extend service life of current and new equipment
  • Drives continuous improvement, leaded root cause failure analysis, and implements countermeasures in accordance with once and done strategies
  • Prepares and manages period budget for R&R, contractors, capital expenditures, and manpower
  • Determining Performance Objectives, KPI's and KAI's for Maintenance activities, PM completions, MTBF, MTTR, and OEE
  • Ensures maintenance strategy aligns with business strategy and operations plans
  • Improvement plans to drive plant operating performance and equipment reliability
  • People Strategy including talent development and training
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance safety, reduce MRO cost, increase capacity and productivity and improve end product
  • Owns the TPM PM Pillar

Leading and Developing Talent
  • Ensures maintenance employees are well trained and current on any required certifications to perform the full scope of their job expectations
  • Establishes clear and measurable performance expectations and holds team members accountable for delivering results
  • Regularly evaluates the strengths and development opportunities of the team, as well as invests in the growth and development of team members to achieve sustained success
  • Effectively staffs the team by leveraging the appropriate mix of internal and external talent to satisfy both near-term performance and long-term succession needs
  • Builds open, trusting environment that promotes listening, respect, winning, and fun.
  • Communicates effectively throughout the plant and ensures people have the right information to win.
  • Ensure people have the skills and capabilities to be successful.

  • Partners with shift resources and other relevant stakeholders to ensure maintenance personnel is well trained and maintains current on any required certifications to perform the full scope of their job expectations
  • Successfully engages employees across the organization to participant and contribute to TPM through strategies such as communication, training, etc.
  • Monitors and enforces all plant and corporate policies and procedures

Leading across the plant/division
  • Seen as a strong leader across the plant, driving engagement and supporting cross-functional projects and teams
  • Shares best practices across plants, challenges thinking and provides candid and respectful feedback
  • Leads with OC's key values, being a strong example for plant employees and others throughout the organization
  • Assists the plant leader with other duties as required

Directing Maintenance Operations
  • Continuously improve safety and housekeeping
  • Lead the Rockford Maintenance Department to best-in-class safety and machine performance
  • Ensure effective deployment of employee/labor relations practices
  • Control/Reduce Operating Cost. Identify opportunities to enhance efficiencies, streamline processes and leverage resources in order to reduce cost.
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on chronic maintenance issues or repairs
  • Execute effective PM's and work order programs using predictive and preventive technologies
  • Develop and execute TPM & RWP plans as PM pillar leader
  • Have a pulse in day to day operations to understand priorities
  • Effectively collaborates and builds strong relationships with production and technical teams

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial manufacturing/maintenance assignments and leadership experience
  • Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience successfully developing, leading and executing reliability focused maintenance processes
  • A proven track record of driving results, engaging others and consistent accountability
  • Previous experience/proficiency with CMMS (i.e. Maximo, SAP) or Similar
  • Proficiency with utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • TPM and CI experience preferred but not required
