What is a Talent Bridge?

A Talent Bridge is a program or service designed to connect job seekers with employers, often focusing on helping individuals transition into new careers or industries. These programs may offer training, internships, mentorship, or job placement services to bridge the gap between available talent and workforce needs. Talent Bridge initiatives are frequently used by companies, educational institutions, or workforce development organizations to build pipelines of qualified candidates and support economic growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Talent Bridge professional?

To thrive as a Talent Bridge professional, you need a background in recruitment, talent acquisition, and workforce development, often supported by a degree in human resources or business. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HR databases, and sourcing platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and effective communication help build relationships with both candidates and clients. These abilities are vital for successfully connecting top talent with organizational needs and fostering long-term employment solutions.

What are the main challenges Talent Bridge professionals face when matching candidates with client needs?

Talent Bridge professionals often encounter challenges such as understanding clients’ evolving requirements, balancing the expectations of both employers and job seekers, and navigating a competitive talent marketplace. Woolpert is an award-winning, global leader in architecture, engineering, and geospatial services. We blend design excellence with cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional client value. Our team is passionate about their work and committed to building the next generation of industry leaders, and as a certified Great Place to Work®, Woolpert embraces progress and innovation to create limitless opportunities for career growth.
Position Overview
Woolpert is seeking a Bridge Design Engineer to join our growing Transportation team in one of our Ohio locations. As a bridge engineer, you will be involved in diverse transportation projects spanning multiple locations, clients, complexity, and size. In addition to steel and concrete bridges, you will be exposed to work involving retaining walls, culverts, and other unique specialties including pedestrian timber suspension bridges and covered bridge rehabilitations. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.
What You Will Do:
  • Work as part of a diverse team of Licensed Professionals, EITs, and interns to complete bridge and other transportation tasks.
  • Lead and perform design for various aspects of bridge, retaining wall, and culvert design.
  • Prepare project analyses, load ratings, structure type studies, construction plans, and reports related to infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of engineering principles and ability to complete design and analysis calculations.
  • Review or check design calculations, engineering estimates, and plans developed by others.
  • Perform hydraulic studies in relation to bridge design development.
  • Provide mentorship and support to other engineers.

What You Will Bring:
  • Must have ABET Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience with understanding of bridge design and engineering principles.
  • Ohio PE License (or can be obtained within 6 months of employment).
  • Experience in steel and concrete design.
  • Experience with bridge analysis software (OpenBridge Designer, finite element modeling, line girder analysis).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and report writing ability.
  • Ability to work in AutoCAD Civil3D or Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer.
  • Strong knowledge of Ohio DOT and AASHTO design standards.
