Job description

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.

EMORY UNIVERSITY

DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY & LABORATORY MEDICINE

ACADEMIC MEDICAL RENAL PATHOLOGIST

The Emory University Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has a full-time academic faculty position opening in medical renal pathology.  We seek a non-tenure track Surgical Pathologist at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor to join an interactive, collegial group of faculty who evaluate a wide variety of medical and transplant renal specimens in a subspecialized setting. Emory University has very active renal transplant and nephrology programs, and is currently the largest kidney transplant center in the United States.  Multiple core laboratories are available for collaborative research opportunities, including in the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Winship Cancer Institute and in the Emory National Primate Research Center, one of only seven National Primate Research Centers. Emory pathologists have worked with Emory investigators at these centers to innovate, including the development of belatacept, a novel immunosuppression agent for kidney transplantation. With one of the largest Anatomic/Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) residencies in the country, 14 accredited subspecialty fellowships, and advanced molecular diagnostic capabilities, the opportunities for clinical and translational scholarship and teaching are plentiful (see www.pathology.emory.edu).  The successful candidate will be board-eligible or certified in Anatomic Pathology and also be eligible for medical licensure in Georgia. Fellowship training and/or expertise in renal pathology is required. Interest in a second anatomic pathology subspecialty is desirable. Compensation and faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
