Job description


POSITION PURPOSE
The Blast/Paint Exit Floor Operator monitors the operations of plates processing through the Cure Oven, Plate Marker, Cross-Over Tables and Auto-Tagger. The Exit Operator will ensure upkeep, cleaning cycles and adequate supplies of consumables to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the Blast and Paint Line.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
SAFETY:
• Employee is responsible to follow all company and department safety rules.
• Must attend all crew monthly OSHA safety trainings.
• Must attend all company required Safety and Environmental trainings.
• Must complete in a timely manner departmental safety observations.
• Must assist in writing and updating JSA's and participate in hazard assessments.
HOUSEKEEPING:
• Employee is responsible to keep work area clean and orderly.
• Assist in departmental housekeeping.
• Participate in 5S projects.
CONSUMABLES:
• Operate mobile equipment to unload and transport to designated storage areas: totes, buckets, supersacks and or drums of Paint, Solvent and other consumables.
• Monitor operational levels of consumables for the Plate Marker and Auto-Tagger and replenish to ensure a continuous operation.
PRODUCTION PROCESS:
• Monitor the operational functionality of the Cure Oven, Plate Marker, Cross-Over Tables and Auto-Tagger.
• Responsible for monitoring the surface quality, brand markings, paint depth and tagging of plate exiting the Plate Marker and Auto-Tagger.
• Responsible for ensuring each plate is tagged with the correct information.
• Cross train and assist other team members as required.
QUALITY:
• Must be knowledgeable of applicable QSP's and industry standards.
• Must be able to recognize defects in the product.
• Must be able to organize and rotate the stock of paint, solvent and tags to ensure a quality identification of painted plate.
MAINTENANCE:
• Must be able to complete PM's, generate work orders and assist maintenance during breakdowns, outages and down days.
• Must be capable of operating a 10-ton service crane.
• Must be trained as a second competent person to assist in lockout of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies and Experience
Required:
• Minimum of two years of heavy industrial experience, preferably in metal industries.
• Basic computer skills
• Trainable to operate mobile equipment
• Trainable to operate overhead cranes
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Team building attitude and good people skills
• Ability to handle several tasks at a time
• Ability to adjust well to changing job responsibilities
• Works well with a team oriented work force
• Understanding of quality systems and customer needs
• Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations in an industrial environment
Preferred:
• Four or more years of heavy industrial experience
• Heat treating experience - quench & temper, normalize
• Experience with Microsoft office applications
• Maintenance experience
• Overhead crane operation - in-cab and remote
• Basic knowledge of metallurgy
Education
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
• AS or BS degree
