Security Training Specialist Position Overview

Conducts the required Security Training and Qualification Plan in accordance with government regulations, security plans, and procedures. Establishes the training curriculum to meet the commitments in accordance with the Physical Protection Plan and Contingency Response Plan. Responsibilities include administering a site-specific training, weapons, and physical testing program in accordance with the Training and Qualification Plan to ensure the security force carries out their assigned task in a safe and compliant manner. Program elements include physical security, target protection, tactical response, contingency plans, security exercises, limited scope and performance testing and human reliability programs.

On-site in Erwin, TN.

Your Day to Day as a Security Training Specialist:
  • Conduct site specific security training to ensure the security force carries out assigned tasks to meet commitments in accordance with the approved Security Physical Protection Plan.
  • Conduct range training to ensure that the security force can meet initial and recurring weapons and physical testing to meet the commitments contained in the approved Security and Training Qualification Plan.
  • Conduct tactical training to ensure the security force can successfully defend the facility from the current NRC Designed Base Threat by meeting commitments in accordance with the approved Security Contingency Response Plan.
  • Knowledgeable on the security training process and instructional design concepts used by the NFS Security Training Department.
  • Updates lesson plans in accordance with the latest version of security procedures and plans.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of training conducted through task analysis and security officer feedback.
  • Ensures training and lesson plans are relevant and updated.
  • Coordinates logistics and scheduling of training requirements.
  • Develops risk assessment mitigation strategy, for management approval, for all training conduc ted.
  • Updates the security training record of each trainee in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Maintain records- Create and maintain officer training, certification and re-certification records Assists certified armorers with basic weapon cleaning, inspections, inventory and accountability.
  • Create, evaluate and implement range training risk assessments.
  • Create, review, update and maintain written test.
  • Conduct remedial training in procedures and equipment.
  • Participate in Force on Force, Tactical Exercise Programs and the NRC Triennial Exercise Program
  • Assists the Training Unit Manager with ensuring NFS maintains compliance with all applicable NRC training requirements and inspections.
  • Any other support duties as assigned by the Security Training Unit Manager.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred OR 8 years' experience in a Training environment or in assigned program area (Operations or Safety).

Six years’ experience in related field (police, military, security). Experience in a security related field is required to demonstrate the ability to apply technical and tactical security in a Category I nuclear environment.

Pay: $79,000- $119,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $79,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
