What is a tactical operator?

Tactical Operators are specially trained law enforcement or military personnel who handle high-risk operations such as hostage rescues, counter-terrorism missions, and apprehending dangerous suspects. They often belong to specialized units like SWAT teams or military special forces. Tactical Operators undergo rigorous physical and tactical training to perform their duties effectively and safely. Their roles require quick decision-making, teamwork, and the ability to operate various weapons and equipment. These professionals are essential for ensuring public safety during situations that exceed the capabilities of regular police or military units.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tactical operator?

To thrive as a Tactical Operator, you need a background in law enforcement or military operations, advanced firearms proficiency, and specialized tactical training. Familiarity with surveillance technology, breaching tools, and communications systems, as well as certifications like SWAT or similar tactical unit training, are typically required. Strong teamwork, stress management, and decision-making skills set outstanding operators apart in high-risk scenarios. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring mission success and maintaining safety during dynamic and potentially dangerous operations.

What are some common challenges faced by tactical operators during high-stress operations?

Tactical Operators often encounter high-pressure situations that require quick decision-making and effective teamwork. Maintaining clear communication and coordination under stress is crucial, as even minor missteps can impact mission success. Operators must also balance physical endurance with mental resilience, adapting rapidly to evolving scenarios while ensuring their own safety and that of their team members. Continuous training and strong support systems help mitigate these challenges and enhance operational effectiveness.

Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM
The Connected Warfare division builds the software-defined, hardware-enabled systems that command and control capability at the tactical edge. Our Ground Control Station (GCS) product line is the literal hands-on portal through which the warfighter interacts with Anduril's technology-the unified hardware and software interface for commanding systems where decisions carry the highest stakes. We are driven by a "Whatever It Takes" mindset, innovating in a directed, expedient, scalable, and methodical way while keeping the mission top-of-mind. Your work will directly determine how quickly and safely operators can make decisions in high-stakes environments, and will establish GCS as the premier common platform that teams across Anduril can leverage and integrate into their own product ecosystems.

ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the advancement of the GCS product line, transitioning it from a set of customized, mission-specific configurations into a highly scalable, common platform. This role exists because GCS sits at the center of how our customers-and our own business lines-interact with Anduril systems. You will own the strategy, roadmap, and productization efforts required to standardize GCS into a cohesive, polished platform that Connected Warfare and other Anduril divisions can easily build on and integrate. You will be the customer advocate, the cross-divisional connective tissue, and the driving force ensuring GCS becomes the default interface for commanding systems at the tactical edge.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Establish the Baseline: Conduct a deep dive into the technical baselines of GCS, establish partnerships with key engineering and technical leads, and develop a deep understanding of the roadmaps of other Anduril business lines to identify their primary friction points and requirements for a shared GCS platform.
  • Define the Roadmap: Define and secure cross-functional and cross-business-line alignment on a 12-month GCS roadmap, prioritizing the core modular hardware and software interfaces needed to enable other teams to integrate easily.
  • Drive Adoption: Achieve successful internal adoption of the GCS platform, with multiple Anduril business lines actively building on top of or integrating GCS into their own product offerings.
  • Own the Full Lifecycle: Manage the entire GCS product lifecycle-from analyzing fragmented requirements and defining the product, through hardware sourcing/manufacturing and software integration, to launch, commercial sales enablement, and scaling.
  • Consolidate & Productize: Take systems that exist in disparate, highly customized, or unrefined states, resolve technical debt, and standardize them into a cohesive, highly polished product that gets sold and scaled.
  • Align Across Divisions: Build strong relationships across multiple business lines to drive adoption of a standardized hardware interface, balancing the unique needs of different internal teams while keeping the product baseline unified.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of product management experience managing complex, physical hardware products (ruggedized systems, edge compute, or mechanical controls) that tightly integrate with real-time software
  • Proven ability to take systems in disparate, highly customized, or unrefined states, clean them up, resolve technical debt, and standardize them into a cohesive, polished product that actually gets sold and scaled
  • Demonstrated end-to-end product lifecycle mastery-from analyzing fragmented requirements and defining the MVP, through hardware sourcing/manufacturing and software integration, to launch, commercial sales enablement, and scaling
  • Ability to build strong relationships across multiple business lines to drive adoption of a standardized hardware interface, balancing the unique needs of different internal teams while keeping the product baseline unified
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and balance resources, priorities, and requirements across engineering and business stakeholders
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in high-growth commercial technology companies, startups, or fast-paced hardware-software product environments
  • Hands-on experience with tactical command and control (C2) systems, including establishing, configuring, or operating within Tactical Operations Centers (TOCs) in the field
  • Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance
