Description
$300 Sign-On Bonus for New Hires! We're growing our LISTEN Retail team! Qualified new hires receive a sign-on bonus plus the opportunity to do work that directly supports our neighbors in need in the Upper Valley.
PURPOSE:
The Associate supports daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient merchandising, and smooth donation processing. This role plays a key part in advancing the organization's mission by helping generate revenue through the sale of donated goods.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service & Sales
  • Provide a welcoming and positive shopping experience for customers.
  • Assist customers with purchases, pricing inquiries, and store policies.
  • Operate the cash register and process sales transactions accurately and in adherence to policy.
  • Assist clients with vouchers by answering questions, processing vouchers tactfully and maintaining client confidentiality. Provide information regarding LISTEN services as needed.

Merchandising & Store Maintenance
  • Sort, price, and display donated merchandise following store guidelines.
  • Maintain clean and organized store displays and dressing rooms.
  • Restock shelves and ensure inventory rotation based on shop needs
  • Support the design merchandise displays for special sales.

Donation Processing & Inventory Management
  • Accept and sort donations, ensuring they meet store quality standards.
  • Handle merchandise pricing per established pricing guidelines
  • Assist in maintaining an organized donation storage area.

Training and Volunteer Support
  • Support team members wherever needed.
  • Provide support and cooperation to volunteers in order to make the best use of their time and talents for LISTEN

Store Operations, Safety & Other Duties
  • Follow store procedures regarding cash handling, inventory control, safety and security.
  • Provide a clean, safe and accessible store site for customers and staff.
  • Assist with store opening and closing tasks.
  • Support special sales, promotions, and community engagement efforts.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of LCS.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
  • Passion for non-profit work and thrift store operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Respect for and the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and pricing items.
  • Ability to lift up to 40-50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Cognitive Skills: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers and donors. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to be on their feet, walking and standing. The employee is frequently required to reach, handle (hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand or hands), finger (picking, pinching, fine manipulation). The employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, climb stairs, push, and pull. The employee is rarely required to crouch, kneel, crawl, balance, twist, stretch and sit. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move between 25-50lbs.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be continuously exposed to noise and will occasionally be exposed to fumes (cleaning solutions) and dust (from sweeping and dusting). The employee will also experience various seasonal temperatures while working with donors bringing their donations from outside to inside the sorting area. The sorting area has some environmental control but is exposed to outside temperatures when doors are open.Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the company's health, dental, vision and 401k plan.
