What is Tableau training?

Tableau training refers to courses or instruction designed to teach individuals how to use Tableau, a powerful data visualization and business intelligence tool. These trainings cover topics such as connecting to data sources, creating interactive dashboards, and analyzing data using Tableau's features. The goal is to help users gain the skills needed to interpret data effectively and make data-driven decisions using Tableau. Training can be self-paced, instructor-led, or offered through online platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tableau trainer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tableau Trainer, you need expertise in data visualization, a deep understanding of Tableau software, and experience in instructional design or teaching. Familiarity with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and relevant certifications such as Tableau Desktop Certified Associate are highly beneficial. Strong communication, presentation, and patience are essential soft skills for effectively conveying complex concepts to learners of varying skill levels. These abilities ensure trainees gain practical proficiency, maximize their learning experience, and can leverage Tableau for impactful data-driven decisions.

What are some common challenges faced by Tableau trainers when teaching new users, and how can these be addressed?

Reporting

Job Description:

Role will be multi-faceted; not only responsible for creating dashboards, reports etc, but also helping to mentor and knowledge transfer to BCBS' full-time staff. They have a small team of resources who are working with Tableau, but they are pretty much self taught and cannot do some of the more data visualization type reports. Candidates need to be comfortable performing demos to small groups (4-6 people), so communication skills both verbal and written are a must. Candidates will be given requirements, and then they will translate the requirements into a workable solution. There will be some analysis needed, so experience with SQL to help extract and manipulate the data to create reports is a must. Preferably Teradata SQL, but overall ANSI is ok.

Additional Information:

Project is for BCBS' HI-Touch accounts, specifically HEB and American Airlines; Hi-touch is basically just like it sounds (because they are enterprise, key customers, they get a higher level of interaction and service from HCSC).

Work Environment:

business casual; deadline intensive, small IT centric group but sit on the business side; group handles analytics and information management; very customer focused; typical 8-5 for the most part

Additional Information
  1. Good comm skills are a big priority
  2. Duration: 6+ Months
  3. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  4. Interview Information: Phone Screen, then face to face, will be next week
