Role
We are seeking a BI Data Analyst to join our Thacker Pass team. In this role, you will support Lithium Americas' efforts in building, commissioning, and operating a new sulfuric acid plant and lithium processing facility at Thacker Pass in a safe and effective manner.
The BI Data Analyst will serve as a resource to plant operations, responsible for developing and maintaining databases and dashboards related to environmental, safety, production, and quality data. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical, technical, and communication skills and the ability to transform data into meaningful insights that drive operational performance.
The role is based at our Winnemucca, NV office during construction and will transition to the Thacker Pass site near Orovada, NV during commissioning and operations. The role reports to the Site Engineering Manager. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership of and promote Lithium Nevada's safety-first culture. Ensure strict compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations as well as Lithium Nevada's site-specific safety program. Perform all engineering activities with a safety-first mindset. Promote and foster employee "stop work" authority. Identify, report and mitigate safety hazards and observations as part of daily activities and safety walks. Champion safety standards and promote communication and accountability within all production areas. Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for the Thacker Pass Mine and Lithium Processing Facility in close coordination with Mining, Commissioning, and Start-Up teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze environmental, safety, production, and quality databases for the Thacker Pass site.
  • Retrieve and prepare data from multiple sources for analysis, trend identification, and reporting.
  • Interface with systems including Data Historian, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Laboratory Information Management Systems, Environmental Health and Safety Systems, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Build meaningful reports and data visualizations in the form of dashboards, spreadsheets, and presentations for internal and corporate use.
  • Evaluate data to identify emerging trends and opportunities for operational performance improvement.
  • Perform data validation and implement quality control measures to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Create reports for daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual operations reviews, including production performance, variance tracking, and milestone achievement.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards that effectively communicate data insights to various audiences across the organization.
  • Train and support users on how to access and interpret dashboards and data visualization tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align reporting standards and data structures for consistent information flow.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in data analysis within mining, chemical processing, or industrial operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Power BI, Teams, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Experience developing and managing databases or dashboards in industrial or production environments.
  • Coding or scripting skills in SQL, Oracle, or Python preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think critically, identify trends, and translate complex data into clear visualizations and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
