Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Job Summary:

CFL USA, LLC is currently seeking candidates to join our rapidly expanding team. We seek to hire a Environmental Health and Safety Manager. The successful candidate will establish an effective EHS system which reduce risk exposure and creates a healthy and safe work environment for the vinyl tile manufacturing facility in Gordon County, Georgia. If you have a strong background in risk management and a passion for building processes and procedures which ensure the protection of those we value most, our people, we want to hear from you.

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for our people, our products, and our assets. The position of EHS Manager is a key role towards our goal of Zero Accidents and you will have overall responsibility for the company's compliance with both legislative and corporate requirements and standards related to health, safety, and environment. You will oversee running and following up on all programs related to certification, internal procedures and KPIs for the area as well as being the driver in the implementation of new behavior, procedures, and methods. Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be part of the Management Team working closely with all functions to achieve our goal of Zero Accidents. You will also work in close cooperation with all department managers, the Supervisor, etc.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares, schedules and conducts training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Create, communicate, administer the safety policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings. Present recommendations to leadership team.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of our employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Represents the Company on Safety issues which may include meetings with attorneys, state, federal regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Leads/implements the development and administration of plant environmental, health and safety processes, such as accident investigations, corrective actions, safety inspections/audits, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work permits, etc.
  • Drive best in class safety culture change initiatives and behavioral based safety programs with a zero-incident focus.
  • Manage environmental programs and activities associated with regulatory compliance in accordance with CFL policy.
  • Develops and facilitates training on EHS initiatives, Department of Transportation compliance topics, and required OSHA/ environmental training.
  • Drive procedures regarding labeling, storage, spills, or disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Understands and remains current on environmental requirements.
  • Compiles data, prepares and submits required regulatory reports.
  • Provides, maintains, and monitors all environmental, health and safety management activities including, but not limited to, MSDS files, hazard communication program, environmental educational programs, hazardous waste program, hazardous materials program, air program, storm water program, wastewater discharge program, etc.
  • Timely and effectively communicates with CFL personnel and federal, state, and local authorities on environmental, health and safety compliance issues.
  • Serves as point of contact for agency, company, community environmental, health and safety inquiries,
  • Maintains thorough familiarity with all aspects of the facility’s emergency contingency plan.
  • Leads/implements the development and administration of plant environmental, health and safety processes, such as accident investigations, corrective actions, safety inspections/audits, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work permits, etc.
  • Ensuring full compliance with both regulatory and corporate EHS requirements and standards
  • Cooperating with external stakeholders (e.g., Federal, State & Local municipalities) as well as third party advisors and auditors
  • Continuously monitoring and improving employee behavior and EHS processes
  • Being an active and constructive member of the Management Team - with commitment, sense of ownership and willingness to challenge and improve methods and ways of doing and thinking in the company
  • Increase staff safety awareness through regular awareness campaigns
  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees receive suitable environmental, health and safety training
  • Continued expansion of plant physical EHS risk assessments
  • Develop and lead the Plant’s annual EHS plan and safety & environmental management program.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience creating and implementing a safety program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Ability to navigate a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Bilingual- Spanish/English
