Job description

The Server provides an exceptional dining experience for residents and guests by performing the following
duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Dining Room and service preparation
• provides meal, dining and table service to residents and guests
• responds to resident and guest inquiries pertaining to meals
• relays orders to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars
• garnishes and decorates dishes prior to serving
• serves patrons from chafing dish at the dining table
• observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when a meal has been completed
• ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and performs other services as determined by the community’s size and practices
• clears and resets counters or tables at the conclusion of each course
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 0-3 months related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• valid Food Handler certification
• CPR certification preferred
• AED certification preferred
• ability to multi-task
Communication Skills
Ability to:

• read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• write routine reports and correspondence
• speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Mathematical Skills
Ability to:

• add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• compute rate, ratio, and percent
• draw and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability
Ability to:

• apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills competency with Microsoft Office Suite
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
• is constantly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear
• is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell
• is frequently required to talk, hear, and bend and twist neck
• may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
