What You Will Do:

As the Outside Sales Rep, you will maximize Company sales and profitability by growing, maintaining, and actively promoting products to new or existing customers.

Your Top Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Develops, maintains, and grows new and existing client relationships, focusing on large volume hospitality, multifamily and commercial projects.
  • Generates and follows up on sale leads while continually looking for new business opportunities with our largest commercial installers, developers, and general contractors.
  • Participates in industry functions such as home shows and professional association meetings to network, build relationships, and generate leads.
  • Maintains and stays up to date on product knowledge, availability, and technical aspects product including installation.
  • Understands the customer's business, provides solutions that fit, and uses negotiation techniques to close the sale.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework complete, 4-year degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of Commercial Sales or at least 3+ years of experience working in the commercial construction industry with a project management role or higher.
  • Functional Skills: The ideal candidate must have the skills to balance and succeed over the lifecycle of projects dealing with every customer type successfully, instilling confidence and providing exceptional customer service to each customer type. Solid business acumen to understand customers goals. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to close the sales. Solid organizational and planning skills are also needed.
  • Technology Aptitude/Other: Intermediate computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel along with the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, metric conversions, area calculations, and apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal/written communication skills with the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; to respond to common inquires or complaints from Customers or the public; to write routine reports and correspondence; to speak effectively before large groups of Customers or Employees of the organization.

Demonstrates a positive can-do attitude, values team collaboration yet can work independently when required. Friendly and warm demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills.

Other Important Information:

  • Reports To: Regional Sales Manager
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, with flexibility to work Saturday as needed.
  • Travel: Regional Travel required. Some overnight travel may also be needed.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the Employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and possibly inclement weather while traveling. The Employee works with and in proximity to material handling equipment including forklifts and cranes. The Employee works with and in proximity to packaged, cement-based products such as grouts and cleaning and sealing chemicals for tile and stone. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle and feel; to talk and hear; and to operate a motor vehicle. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, lift and/or move up to 15 lbs. and is occasionally required to climb or balance and lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
