As part of the commissioners' office, you would support the commissioners as they establish overall agency direction and policy and make their final determinations on contested permitting and enforcement matters. See details about what we do .
This position is a member of our Office of General Counsel.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Provide advanced professional guidance and support for administrative analysis, development of office management policies, and coordination of operations for the Office of General Counsel.
  • Serve as consultant and liaison to management and staff regarding business operations in the Office of General Counsel, Office of Chief Clerk, Office of Chief Auditor, and Office of Public Interest Counsel (Commissioner's Cluster).
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee various short and longterm division, office, and agency projects; and/or review agency initiatives and reports.
  • Advise division management regarding budget, personnel, resource alignment, reporting, and other such duties.
  • Serve as the Commissioners' Cluster Public Information Act screener responsible for coordinating information and responses in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Review and evaluate new and modify existing administrative program policies, regulations, goals, etc., by facilitating business processes, and/or through project meetings.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience advising division management regarding budget, personnel, resource alignment, and businessrelated reporting, including operating budget development and salary reconciliation.
  • Experience overseeing business administration projects, including coordinating and incorporating responses from other business units.
  • Experience with document management and records retention, including familiarity with the Texas Records Retention Act, policies and procedures regarding records retention, storage, access, and destruction.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in business, planning, environmental studies, art history, related fields, or an area relevant to the position, plus six years of fulltime experience conducting program and/or policy analysis work.
One year of additional experience may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
A graduate degree in the above areas may substitute for two years of the required experience.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
