Job description

About Verra Mobility

Verra Mobility is a global leader in smart transportation technology, helping the world move safely and efficiently. We serve the world's largest commercial fleets and rental car companies, managing tolling, violations, and title & registration for over 8.5 million vehicles across North America and Europe. Our platforms process nearly 165 million transactions annually, connecting vehicles, data, and people in ways that drive real impact.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Product Manager to join our Commercial Services unit, focused initially on Title & Registration (T&R). This is a high-complexity, regulated product area that directly impacts how fleets, rental companies, and their customers navigate vehicle titling and registration across multiple jurisdictions.

You'll join a product squad with a defined problem space, embedded alongside a technical lead and engineering team. But this isn't a backlog-grooming role, as you'll own discovery: getting in front of customers, validating the problems, stress-testing potential solutions, and driving a roadmap that delivers measurable outcomes. You'll report directly to the VP of Product, Commercial Services, and operate as a key contributor as we build toward a modern Product Operating Model.

What You'll Do

Own the problem, drive discovery

  • Lead continuous customer discovery, including interviews, ride-alongs, and data analysis, to validate problems and pressure-test solutions before committing to build.
  • Frame customer and business problems with clarity and evidence, ensuring the team works on what truly matters.
  • Define and maintain a prioritized roadmap grounded in measurable outcomes, rather than a feature wish list.
  • Balance user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility, using sound judgment and solid product sense.
  • Partner early with Legal, Compliance, and Operations functions to shape viable solutions.
  • Own the problem end-to-end, make tough prioritization calls, document your reasoning and outcomes.

Guide delivery and build trust with your squad

  • Partner closely with your technical lead and engineering team, creating context, removing ambiguity, and enabling the squad to move with speed and confidence.
  • Collaborate closely with your design lead to ensure solutions are not just technically sound but also user centered.
  • Write crisp, outcome-oriented briefs and acceptance criteria; avoid over-specifying how and focus on why and what success looks like.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate discovery synthesis, documentation, and delivery workflows.
  • Share your approach to discovery and product thinking with peers, contributing to a growing product practice.

Connect product to commercial impact

  • Develop a working understanding of how T&R products drive revenue, retention, and operational efficiency for our commercial customers.
  • Contribute to go-to-market strategy by informing pricing, positioning, and launch readiness in close collaboration with commercial teams.
  • Define and track success metrics that link customer outcomes to business performance.
  • Serve as the internal expert on your product area trusted by sales, operations, and leadership.
What We're Looking For

Required

  • 3-7 years of product management experience in a B2B or B2B2C environment, with a track record of owning outcomes.
  • Experience leading customer discovery and translating qualitative and quantitative insights into product decisions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional squad environment alongside engineering and design peers.
  • Experience in regulated or complex-domain industries, such as automotive, fleet, payments, fintech, insurtech, or similar, with a demonstrated record of learning new domains.
  • Comfort working in and contributing to organizations evolving their product operating model.
  • Active use of AI tools to enhance productivity in day-to-day product work, such as discovery workflows, streamlining documentation, automating research, creating prototypes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication: you write clearly, tailor your message to different audiences, and tell a coherent product story.
  • Strong critical thinking and a bias toward evidence over opinion.

Great to Have

  • Experience with vehicle titling, registration, tolling, fleet management, or rental car operations.
  • Background working with large commercial or enterprise customers.
  • Familiarity with product tooling such as Aha!, Azure DevOps, JIRA, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience working with compliance, legal, or regulatory stakeholders in a multi-jurisdiction environment.
What Success Looks Like

In this role, you're not measured by how much you ship, you're measured by the outcomes you drive with your team. In your first year, success looks like:

  • Deep fluency in the T&R problem space, backed by direct customer and stakeholder engagement.
  • A validated, outcome-oriented roadmap your squad believes in and can execute against.
  • Demonstrated velocity in shipping, learning, and adjusting with confidence.
  • Trusted relationships that enable influence without authority to drive alignment across engineering, design, commercial, and other operational functions.
  • Clear evidence of customer impact: reduced friction, improved adoption, or measurable efficiency gains.
Logistics
  • Location: Fully remote to start, with occasional travel to our Mesa, AZ headquarters (1-2x/year). We anticipate a hybrid cadence (2-3 days/week in-office) in the Chicago area in the future.
  • Travel: Light, primarily for team offsites and customer engagement.
  • Reports to: VP of Product, Commercial Services.
