Torch Technologies is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join our team in support of the Launched Effects Product Office. This role provides system safety, risk management, and technical engineering support for advanced Launched Effects systems that enhance lethality, survivability, and situational awareness for Soldiers across Army operational environments.

As a Systems Safety Engineer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Support system safety, risk management, and technical engineering activities for Launched Effects platforms and related systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute system safety activities throughout the product life cycle, including development, testing, qualification, production, fielding, and sustainment.
  • Perform risk management tasks including hazard identification, hazard classification, hazard tracking, and risk analysis activities.
  • Evaluate mitigation and corrective actions to ensure system safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Support Defense Acquisition activities by providing safety input to acquisition planning, technical reviews, and program documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and assist with System Safety Risk Assessments, Risk Determinations, and related risk acceptance documentation.
  • Support development and review of Functional Hazard Analyses, Fault Tree Analyses, System Safety Program Plans, System Safety Management Plans, and System Safety Assessment Reports.
  • Support hardware and software safety analysis activities and technical data package development.
  • Evaluate contractor safety documentation, plans, analyses, and processes for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with systems engineers, project engineers, quality assurance personnel, contractors, vendors, and government stakeholders to support safe and effective system delivery.
  • Identify safety risks, technical issues, and process improvement opportunities while recommending practical mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present technical, safety, engineering, and risk briefings to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced government product office environment.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in safety engineering, systems engineering, aviation, defense, acquisition, or technical program support
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance required (must be able to maintain)
  • Experience supporting system safety, risk management, hazard analysis, or safety assessment activities
  • Experience supporting defense, aviation, UAS, missile, launched effects, or related technical systems
  • Knowledge of risk management, hazard analysis, hazard tracking, and corrective action processes
  • Experience supporting activities across the acquisition life cycle including development, testing, production, fielding, and sustainment
  • Ability to prepare, review, and evaluate technical, safety, and risk documentation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary team environments
  • Experience working in DoD, defense acquisition, aviation, or engineering environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Launched Effects, UAS, aviation systems, missile systems, or advanced defense platforms
  • Experience supporting a Program Management Office (PMO) or Product Office environment
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-882, AR 385-10, AMCOM 385-17, or related safety standards
  • Experience supporting Functional Hazard Analyses, Fault Tree Analyses, System Safety Program Plans, or System Safety Assessment Reports
  • Experience supporting hardware and software safety analysis activities
  • Experience supporting materiel release, fielding, or technical data package development
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical, safety, risk, or programmatic briefings to leadership
  • Strong technical documentation, briefing, and reporting experience
