Job description

NOW HIRING: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING MANAGER

Location: 531 Old Swede Road – Douglassville, PA 19518
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00AM-4:30PM | Full-time hours on-site
Compensation: Competitive salary up to $140,000+ based on experience, leadership scope, and technical depth—top-of-range compensation is reserved for candidates who demonstrate strong, job-relevant experience and independent capability

If you’re a technical leader who can develop people, drive accountability, and still stay connected to real engineering work—this role will feel like a natural fit.

At American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO), we’re looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers while improving processes, driving standards, and supporting real-world manufacturing and customer needs.

This is not a “sit in meetings and manage from a distance” role—you’re expected to lead from the front.

You won’t get lost here—your impact will be seen in both your team and the work they produce.

What This Role Really Is

This is a working manager role—you’ll spend your time leading and developing engineers, managing workload and priorities, driving accountability, and staying close enough to the technical work to make sound decisions that impact design, manufacturing, and customer outcomes.

Who Thrives Here (and Who Doesn’t)

You’ll do well here if you:

  • Hold people accountable while building trust and developing talent
  • Can balance leadership responsibilities with technical awareness
  • Are comfortable operating in a growing, evolving environment

This role is likely not a fit if you:

  • Prefer purely technical work with no people responsibility
  • Avoid difficult conversations or performance management
  • Need highly structured environments with little ambiguity

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

  • Build credibility with the engineering team through consistency and follow-through
  • Gain visibility into current workloads, backlog, and team capabilities
  • Establish clear expectations for accountability, communication, and performance
  • Begin stabilizing priorities and improving execution across projects
  • Identify initial opportunities for process and system improvements

Why Join Our Team at American Crane?

  • Leadership Impact – Directly influence team performance and engineering outcomes
  • Ownership & Influence – Shape engineering standards, processes, and future direction
  • Cross-Functional Authority – Work closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Project Management, and Service
  • Technical Environment – Stay connected to real-world engineering, not just management
  • Stability & Growth – Established company with ongoing investment in people and systems

What You’ll Do

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and develop a team of Electrical Engineers
  • Set clear expectations for performance, accountability, and communication
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and support for skill development
  • Build trust across both experienced and newer team members

Planning, Scheduling & Execution

  • Manage engineering workloads, backlogs, and project priorities
  • Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Balance competing demands across multiple projects and stakeholders

Process Improvement & Standards

  • Develop and implement engineering standards, workflows, and best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department
  • Support adoption of ERP, scheduling tools, and system improvements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Project Management, Sales, and other engineering groups
  • Ensure engineering output aligns with production needs and customer expectations
  • Communicate technical and non-technical information clearly across teams

Technical Oversight & Accountability

  • Stay connected to design work to support decision-making and problem-solving
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, UL 508A, CMAA, ASME, NOG-1, NUM-1, and NUREG requirements
  • Support manufacturing and customer needs with timely, practical engineering solutions

What We’re Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program required

Experience

  • Extensive Experience as an Electrical Engineer in an equipment manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Proven experience leading a team of 5–10+ engineers
  • Strong experience in industrial electrical engineering (controls, power distribution, safety systems)
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and customer-driven engineering environments

Technical & Operational Skills

  • Strong planning, scheduling, and backlog management capability
  • Familiarity with NFPA/NEC, UL 508A, CMAA, ASME, NOG-1, NUM-1, and NUREG standards
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, scheduling tools, or engineering workflow systems

Leadership & Behavioral Attributes

  • Accountability-driven leadership style
  • Strong communication and feedback skills
  • Ability to lead through change (process, systems, team dynamics)
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to earn trust quickly and lead effectively across varying experience levels
  • Alignment with ACECO values: Work Hard, Have Fun, and Do the Right Thing

REQUIREMENTS

  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
  • Ability to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I-9)
  • Eligibility to access export-controlled information where applicable
  • Willingness to undergo a background check in accordance with applicable laws
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment drug screen and randomized drug testing during employment
  • Ability to meet the posted work schedule and required hours
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Willingness to wear appropriate PPE when in shop or manufacturing areas
  • Willingness to complete required safety and compliance training
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct aligned with company expectations

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

  • Full-time, on-site availability Monday–Friday
  • Regular collaboration on the manufacturing floor following safety protocols
  • Occasional travel to customer sites
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed based on workload
  • Ability to meet export control compliance requirements where applicable

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing shop environments
  • Regular interaction with engineering, production, and leadership teams
  • Exposure to industrial conditions when in shop areas
  • Required use of PPE in designated environments

At American Crane & Equipment Corporation, we invest in people who want to lead, grow, and make a meaningful impact.

  • Competitive salary based on leadership scope and technical depth
  • Medical, vision, dental, and life insurance available day one
  • Generous paid time off with rollover each year
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • 10 paid company holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement and leadership development opportunities
  • Lead a high-impact engineering team in a growing organization
  • Influence engineering standards, processes, and long-term direction
  • Stay connected to real engineering work—not just management
  • Develop and mentor the next generation of engineers
  • Drive stability and improvement in a complex, evolving environment
