The Effectors Center within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) organization is currently hiring a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Tucson, AZ location on the Javelin program and serve as a team lead. SE&TC is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multiple disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers. 

The Principal Systems Engineer is a technical and leadership role contributing across the Javelin Portfolio of products with a focus on the Spiral 3 system design, qualification, and fielding. The selected candidate will hold direct accountability for Systems Engineering, System Integration and Test, and Whole Life Engineering functions while serving as a key contributor and decision maker resulting in the successes of the hardware and software design teams. This role requires strong coordination and decision making across all peer team leaders executing design, analysis, and integration of hardware and software elements into a system solution. The successful candidate will interface with Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) and Javelin Project Office (JPO) leadership to drive a common vision to the design teams. The successful candidate will work closely with the product Chief Engineer (CE) and is required to represent the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) as a delegate during CE absences. The successful candidate will coordinate regularly with the program Lead System Engineer (LSE) to ensure product requirements and performance targets are met. This individual will contribute to performance development of direct team members and provide performance inputs to team members’ functional managers.

This is an Onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do: 

  • You will lead a multi-disciplined engineering team representing system design and architecture, reliability, safety, and system test functional organizations.

  • You will collaborate regularly with counterparts within the JJV and JPO as well as other key US Government stakeholder organizations.

  • You will apply your extensive experience to system design, requirements, interfaces, and detail design elements.

  • You will utilize what you have learned in the various technology domains to provide critical review, feedback, lessons learned, and decision making for detail elements.

  • You will host weekly meetings and periodic technical interchanges with engineering counterparts in the JJV and various USG customer organizations.

  • You will mentor and guide team members and engage with subject matter experts (SMEs).

  • You will provide daily task leadership including prioritization of work and execution.

  • You will identify, analyze, and report on risk and opportunities within the project/program.

  • You will support the program Systems CPT lead in managing cost and schedule as well as BOE writing for future contract work.

  • The ideal candidate will understand and demonstrate the spirit of The Doctrine of Completed Staff Work while maintaining Raytheon’s values of collaboration and agility. 

  • This role may require periodic travel up to 10%.

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience

  • Experience across the product lifecycle

  • Experience in systems engineering and integration with a focus on critical design phase through fielding and material release.

  • Experience resolving technical challenges using data driven decision making  

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Experience identifying risk areas and developing mitigation strategies across the program (e.g. not limited to traditional systems tasks)

  • Familiarity with military tactics, techniques, and procedures with a US Army focus 

  • Experience and knowledge in adjacent technical disciplines such as software and configurable logic development, electrical and mechanical engineering, subsystem/system integration and test 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on technical writing 

  • Proficiency with the DOORS tool and corresponding requirements development and management techniques for system and subsystem indenture levels 

  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Windchill), configuration control boards, and document release experience (engineering and formal release)

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
