Job Summary:

Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) Division is looking for an Engineering Manager responsible for Battery Module and Battery Distribution Unit (BDU) system design and integration into multiple battery pack applications for RI/CI machines, rail and marine. As the manager, you will serve as both a technical and people leader, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture aligned with safety, innovation, and operational excellence.

What You Will Do:

Lead Battery Module & BDU Engineering Development
  • Lead and manage cross-functional mechanical, thermal, and electrical engineering teams responsible for Battery Module and BDU design, ensuring quality, cost, weight, functionality, manufacturability (DFM/DFA), timing, and technical performance objectives are achieved. Own design control and guide technical design evolution, project planning, detailed design execution, and subsystem verification activities.
Plan, Execute, and Validate Product Development Programs
  • Support the planning, coordination, execution, and verification of Battery Module and BDU development activities within NPI and small-batch programs, including test planning, validation, cost estimating, budgeting, proposal development, and project timeline management.
Drive Product Strategy, Regulatory Compliance, and Safety Excellence
  • Partner with Chief Engineers, Battery Systems leaders, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Compliance teams to define design and manufacturing strategies, ensure regulatory certification and compliance requirements are met, and champion a proactive safety culture through risk prevention, hazard assessments, safety reviews, and approval of live work procedures.
Lead Cross-Functional and Supplier Collaboration
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and business stakeholders to support product and process decisions, drive supplier selection and capability assessments, implement APQP processes, and advance supplier development initiatives for domestic and global customer programs.
Support Enterprise Product Delivery and Intellectual Property Protection
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues across product development teams to ensure product requirements and schedules are achieved while protecting Caterpillar's intellectual property.
What You Will Have:
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Summary Pay Range:
