Kratos has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineering Manager. The Senior Project Engineering Manager is responsible for establishing and overseeing technical processes and personnel in the development and testing of complex training systems and devices. This role manages and directs senior technical personnel in the design, analysis, and systems engineering of software, electrical, mechanical, logistics, and test. The role is responsible for understanding and communication of contract requirements and industry standards necessary for ensuring technical, schedule, and cost success of the program. Works with the Program Manager to establish compliant, operational, designs and serves as the cost account manager for engineering functions. Displays a sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail, providing clear guidance. Maintains personal and team accountability where team members are motivated, productive, focused, and confident.
This role requires significant customer interface. The successful candidate is expected to ensure a professional work environment that fosters cooperation, and synergy across all departments and KRATOS functional elements.
  • 10+ years engineering management of defense, aerospace, or industrial/military powerplant projects
  • Provided technical management for multiple capital projects of a last $10M
  • Proven leadership in requirements and technical baseline management, to include managing to an established budget base line and IMS.
  • Interprets and understands contracts and requirements
  • Development of key Technical Management Metrics
  • Demonstrated success in engineering execution of large industrial or military projects in a model-based design architecture
  • Operational understanding of integrated systems and systems engineering
  • Experienced with the identification and assessment of risk within a formal risk management environment
  • Development of basis of estimates and schedules (MS Project, preferred) supporting proposals and project execution
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with various teams to ensure project goals are met within deadlines and budgets
  • Experience developing agile parallel path plans across multiple teams while ensuring quality and technical support to less experienced engineers
  • Experienced in the use and interpretation of ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 GD&T
  • Proficiency in the interpretation and creation of technical drawings and 3D models using CAD, Model Based Design (MBD), interface control documents, requirements specifications, and system models
  • Strong communication skills with high emphasis on continuous improvement, highly collaborative communication within the project team to include ongoing updates on lessons learned to enhance efficiency
  • Experience using root cause analysis tools to collaborate to creatively solve complex scope and schedule issues
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Experience with or design supporting naval or industrial power plants
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Engineering Intern/Engineer in Training (E.I or E.I.T) certificate
  • Experience with relevant quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001 or AS9100)
  • Control Account Management (CAM) within an Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret-level clearance
