Job description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Systems Engineer (Mid-Level) to support government programs by providing technical support. This role involves acting as a SETA contractor, collaborating closely with government technical teams to drive program success through efficient planning, execution, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, with proven experience in government or defense-related projects, and the ability to draw on independent research and past expertise to address complex technical, policy, and programmatic challenges.
Responsibilities:
As a Systems Engineer (Mid-Level), you will develop an understanding of systems integration, risk assessment, and program support within a government context. You will act as a key supporting member of the team, ensuring alignment between technical efforts and program goals.
As a Systems Engineer (Mid-Level) for MTSI, you will be responsible for the following:
• Support Day-to-Day Technical Efforts: Assist in daily technical activities as identified by the Government, including planning, reviewing, analyzing, and documenting processes to help achieve program objectives. This may include leading small, focused teams on specific tasks.
• Provide Technical Support and Analysis: Serve as a technical contributor to the Government's team, helping to foster shared understanding and streamline execution.
• Offer analysis and insights based on engineering principles to enhance team performance.
• Program Planning and Execution: Provide valuable input to the Government's program strategy by assisting with the analysis of technical risks, policy implications, and programmatic challenges.
Additional duties may include:
• Assisting in technical reviews to validate system designs and implementations.
• Preparing reports, briefings, and documentation for government stakeholders.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to integrate technical solutions.
• Staying abreast of advancements in your engineering field to inform program decisions.
Qualifications:
• At least 2-5 years of experience in an engineering field.
• Experience supporting technical efforts in and balancing multi-stakeholder environments.
• Familiarity with risk assessment and management concepts.
• Ability to perform research and analysis on technical topics.
Desired Requirements:
• Familiarity with technical architectures or system-of-systems design.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes.
• Experience with or interest in test and evaluation or transition strategies.
• Exposure to advanced Modeling and Simulation (M&S) activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.
• Proficient in writing documentation and reporting with attention to detail.

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering. Include Space Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) a plus.
Clearance Requirements:
• An active Secret security clearance is required to start.
• Candidate must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
