Systems Engineer

Information Technology Department

Position Summary:

The System Engineer plays a pivotal role in overseeing the management, design, and architecture of SIA's servers and datacenter technologies. As key contributors to the Systems team, they provide direction, guidance, and recommendations for all related processes and services. The role encompasses the installation, configuration, and ongoing improvement of datacenter technologies, ensuring alignment with the evolving IT business needs of the organization. System Engineers actively troubleshoot and resolve issues within computer and server systems to minimize work disruptions.

Outline of duties:

  • Design and architect datacenter and cloud-based solutions, including the deployment of new servers and extending clusters
  • Demonstrate expertise in automation tools and scripting, with proficiency in PowerShell, Ansible, and Terraform
  • Install and configure both Windows and Linux Servers
  • Manage and design Hypervisor environments, including VMware vSphere 7.0, Nutanix AOS, and other VMware portfolio offerings
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of disaster recovery and backup solutions, with knowledge of business continuity solutions such as Zerto and VMware SRM
  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of Windows Active Directory design and support, ADCS, DHCP, Group Policies, and DNS
  • Design and implement cloud architecture, with familiarity in DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, particularly Azure DevOps
  • Manage and perform maintenance on Storage arrays, including experience with enterprise arrays such as HPE Alletra, Dell PowerStore, NetApp, Pure Storage, etc.
  • Prioritize a security-first mindset, incorporating least privilege and Privilege Access Management principles
  • Understand 3-tier architecture and Hyperconverged infrastructure like Nutanix AOS and VMware vSAN
  • Comfortable with cross-training and actively participates in knowledge sharing within the team
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation on the environment
  • Work independently with minimal oversight, progressing through projects and tasks efficiently
  • Proactively adapt to changes in duties, responsibilities, and activities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
SQL Server Administration and management
VDI and profile management with tools like DEM and FSLogix
VMware VCF Administrator Certified Professional
VMware VCF Architect Certified Professional
AWS Solutions Architect - Professional
Certified Kubernetes Administrator
