JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, provides engineering support for the College's enterprise infrastructure systems, including Linux and Windows server environments, virtualization platforms, enterprise storage, cloud technologies, and automation solutions. Assists with the implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure while supporting the College's strategic technology objectives
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of server, storage, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Administer and maintain Linux-based enterprise systems, Windows Server environments, and virtualization platforms, including Proxmox and VMware.
  • Assist with virtualization initiatives, cloud deployments, backup systems, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance automation scripts using technologies such as Bash and PowerShell to improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
  • Monitor system performance and assist with capacity planning, performance tuning, and system health assessments.
  • Participate in mentoring opportunities with senior engineers and technical staff to develop enterprise infrastructure knowledge and engineering expertise.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and technology leadership on infrastructure projects and operational improvements.
  • Research technical issues, evaluate potential solutions, participate in testing activities, and implement approved solutions under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Assist in maintaining enterprise monitoring and management tools.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities, infrastructure upgrades, and after-hours system changes as required.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, configuration standards, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with creating and updating business processes related to enterprise infrastructure systems.
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation as assigned.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible professional experience. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, training, and directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of systems administration, infrastructure support, or systems engineering experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems administration and experience supporting enterprise virtualization environments, preferably Proxmox.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Proxmox and VMware, Microsoft Azure, and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell to automate routine administrative tasks
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP networking, and enterprise backup technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 25 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally, all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, able to learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures. Continued employment remains on an "at-will" basis.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and other non-standard hours as needed to support system upgrades, scheduled maintenance, and the timely resolution of critical system issues.
  • May be required to participate in an on-call rotation, as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality and complies with College policies and security standards.
