Job description

TRC Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with one of our innovative manufacturing clients. This is a brand-new position on a newly formed Sustainment Engineering team, offering the chance to lead projects and play a key role in the lifecycle management of advanced computer-based products.


We're looking for a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical systems knowledge who can independently solve complex problems, lead engineering initiatives, and support products from design through sustainment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead sustainment engineering projects for complex computer-based systems and products.

  • Analyze complete mechanical systems and understand how assemblies integrate, function, and perform in production environments.

  • Evaluate existing products and determine necessary engineering changes, improvements, and redesign opportunities.

  • Design new mechanical components and assemblies utilizing CAD software when replacement parts or modifications are required.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve assembly and manufacturing issues occurring on the production floor.

  • Investigate field failures and customer-reported issues and determine effective corrective actions.

  • Manage component lifecycle concerns, including end-of-life (EOL) planning, replacement strategies, and obsolescence management.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams to support product reliability and performance.

  • Provide technical leadership while managing projects and engineering initiatives with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Experience: 3+ years of engineering experience in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, product engineering, or sustainment engineering environments.

  • Mechanical Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, system integration, and product functionality.

  • CAD Design: Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software.

  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to independently troubleshoot complex engineering challenges and implement effective solutions.

  • Project Leadership: Experience leading engineering projects and driving initiatives to successful completion.

  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills and sound technical decision-making abilities.
