The Department of Molecular Genetics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Investigators addressing fundamentally important biological questions in eukaryotic developmental biology, cell biology, or genomics are encouraged to apply.
Applicants with expertise in imaging, quantitative biology, computational biology, multi-omics analyses, or systems biology will be especially competitive.
What You'll Work On Molecular Genetics & GenomicsDevelop an independent research program addressing fundamentally important biological questions across molecular genetics, genomics, and related areas of modern biology.
Developmental BiologyInvestigate mechanisms underlying eukaryotic development and use innovative approaches to understand biological processes at the molecular and cellular levels.
Cell BiologyConduct research addressing important questions in cell biology, using experimental and quantitative approaches to investigate cellular mechanisms.
Quantitative & Computational BiologyApply quantitative and computational approaches to biological research, including computational biology, data analysis, and mathematical or modeling-based approaches.
Multi-Omics & Systems BiologyUse multi-omics analyses and systems biology approaches to investigate complex biological systems and generate new insights into molecular and cellular processes.
Advanced ImagingResearchers with expertise in biological imaging and quantitative imaging approaches are particularly encouraged to apply.
Ideal CandidatesApplicants must have:
- A doctoral degree (PhD or MD).
- At least two years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience.
- A strong record of demonstrated research productivity.
- Ability to develop a rigorous, externally funded research program.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Exceptions to the postdoctoral experience requirement may be made for candidates holding graduate-to-faculty transition awards.
