How much do systematic reviewer jobs pay per hour?
What is a systematic reviewer?
A Systematic Reviewer is a research professional who conducts comprehensive and structured literature reviews to synthesize evidence on a specific topic. They follow rigorous methodologies to identify, assess, and summarize relevant studies, often for healthcare, policy, or academic purposes. Their work helps inform decision-making by providing objective and transparent assessments of existing research.
What does a systematic reviewer do?
Systematic Reviewers follow a structured process that includes formulating research questions, developing protocols, screening and selecting studies, extracting and analyzing data, and synthesizing findings for reports or publication. On a daily basis, you’ll collaborate with researchers, statisticians, and content experts to ensure comprehensive and unbiased reviews. You may also coordinate meetings, maintain meticulous documentation, and address feedback from peer reviewers or stakeholders. This role demands both independent critical analysis and effective teamwork, offering valuable opportunities to contribute to evidence-based decision-making in healthcare or policy.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a systematic reviewer?
A Systematic Reviewer requires strong analytical skills, a background in research methodology, and often an advanced degree in health sciences or a related field. Familiarity with systematic review software (such as Covidence or RevMan), bibliographic databases (like PubMed or Embase), and knowledge of PRISMA guidelines are essential technical qualifications. Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and collaboration skills set top candidates apart. These capabilities are crucial to ensure high-quality, reproducible reviews that accurately synthesize large bodies of scientific literature.
