Senior Systems Verification Engineer

Position Summary:

The Senior Systems Verification Engineer position is with Nevro Corp, part of the Globus group of companies.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead verification for projects of medium/high complexity including planning, conducting, directing assignments, and managing tasks for small team of verification engineers;

  • Serve as technical lead and subject matter expect for system, sub-system, and/or module-level verification against requirements and validation activities on Class III medical devices, including those using RF communications systems and active implantable systems to ensure buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders;

  • Provide estimates for verification effort/ resources required, generate testing metrics, provide input on projects to budget manager, and give periodic status updates to broader team/management;

  • Work with Quality/Regulatory Engineers for the release/submission of technical documents;

  • Account for large scope of complex project deliverables and technical documentation (like engineering reports, verification plans, procedures, reports, validation plans and reports);

  • Perform/analyze system setup;

  • Lead hands-on system integration testing/troubleshooting of technical issues, working with developers to identify root cause and viable resolutions and ensuring issues are appropriately documented and bug fixes of software defects verified;

  • Determine high-level test strategy;

  • Write clear test descriptions;

  • Drive design, development, updates, execution, and debugging of hardware, software and/or system tests (manual, interactive, automated);

  • Ensure cross-functional reviews of the test protocol development (test strategy, test design, test code) are being performed;

  • Complete regression, dry, and formal verification runs for multiple releases at appropriate times in the development cycle;

  • Oversee junior level team members for technical mentoring and guidance for projects;

  • Test systems with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, differential probes, spectrum analyzers, Python, Bluetooth sniffer and protocol analyzer;

  • Perform scripting with high-level programming languages;

  • Review/evaluate system/product requirements for correctness, completeness, and testability; and

  • Analyze/allocate requirements into appropriate set of verification tests, ensuring system coverage and proper tracing.

  • Hybrid work permitted per employer's discretion within reasonable commuting distance.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Systems Engineering, and 6 years of experience with development or verification in the medical device industry;

  • In the alternative, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Systems Engineering, and 8 years of experience with development or verification in the medical device industry;

  • 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience with a Master's degree in the following:

    • Driving operational efficiency on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment;

    • Communicating and presenting on technical topics and projects (both written and verbal); and

    • Working in cross-functional engineering teams

  • Requires 4 years of experience with the following:

    • Performing system-level verification against product requirements; and

    • Risk management (such as risk analysis, FMEA, ISO 14971)

  • Requires 1 year of experience with the following:

    • RF communications systems and active implantable systems;

    • Scripting with high-level programming languages (such as Python); and

    • Testing systems with oscilloscopes, power supplies and other standard lab equipment.
