Staff Software Engineer - Rust & Distributed Systems
Hybrid | Santa Clara, CA
We're partnering with an innovative technology company that's building secure, distributed infrastructure at the intersection of cloud, security, and modern systems engineering. They're looking for a Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in backend development, distributed systems, and systems programming to help architect and build highly scalable platform services.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and build distributed microservices for a large-scale cloud platform
  • Own services end-to-end, including architecture, development, deployment, scaling, and production reliability
  • Lead system design and API architecture discussions across multiple engineering teams
  • Develop secure, resilient, and high-performance backend services
  • Write production-quality code using Rust or other systems-level programming languages
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, infrastructure, and engineering teams to deliver complex platform capabilities
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership on architecture, code quality, and engineering best practices
  • Drive technical direction for foundational platform services and distributed system architecture

Requirements:
  • 8+ years of backend software engineering experience
  • Strong experience designing and building distributed systems and microservices from the ground up
  • Proven experience owning services throughout the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong programming experience in Rust (or comparable systems languages such as C/C++ or Go)
  • Deep understanding of system design, service architecture, and API design
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containerized applications, and cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployments
  • Strong Linux development and debugging experience
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, distributed storage, and caching technologies
  • Passion for building secure, reliable, and scalable systems
  • Experience with confidential computing, trusted execution environments, encryption, or security infrastructure is a plus
  • Background in performance-critical systems, infrastructure platforms, or developer platforms is a plus
