Project Manager – Electronic Security Systems
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to lead the execution of complex Electronic Security Systems (ESS) projects supporting U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Department of State (DoS), and other Federal Government customers at our Norfolk location.
  • This position is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle of integrated security system projects from planning and design through installation, commissioning, sustainment, and closeout. The ideal candidate possesses strong project management and leadership capabilities combined with a solid technical understanding of enterprise-level electronic security systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • The Project Manager will work closely with customers, engineers, subcontractors, field personnel, and corporate leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with government requirements and industry standards.
  • This role requires an individual who can effectively bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and program execution while maintaining exceptional customer relationships in high-security federal environments.
Job Description:
Project amp; Program Management
  • Manage multiple electronic security system projects supporting DoD, DoS, and other Federal Government customers.
  • Lead project execution activities including initiation, planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, project estimates, and status reports.
  • Conduct project meetings, customer briefings, and internal coordination meetings.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet contractual requirements, technical specifications, and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with procurement, subcontractors, suppliers, and field installation teams.
  • Monitor project financial performance including labor utilization, subcontractor management, and cost forecasting.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational and financial impacts.
  • Support proposal development, technical solution development, and cost estimating efforts.
Technical amp; Engineering Oversight
  • Provide technical oversight for the design, integration, installation, and sustainment of enterprise electronic security systems.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering personnel to ensure technical solutions align with customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Review system designs, bills of material, statements of work, drawings, and technical submittals.
  • Support engineering reviews, design validation, and system integration planning activities.
  • Understand and oversee integration of systems including:
    • Access Control Systems (ACS)
    • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
    • Video Surveillance / Video Management Systems (CCTV/VMS)
    • Alarm Monitoring Systems
    • Intercom and Communications Systems
    • IP-based security networks and infrastructure
  • Support system commissioning, acceptance testing, and troubleshooting activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards including UFC requirements, DoD physical security requirements, and customer-specific specifications.
Customer amp; Team Leadership
  • Serve as the primary interface between the company and government stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships across program and installation personnel.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and support staff.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to technical and field personnel.
  • Coordinate activities across internal departments to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Communicate effectively with executive leadership, customers, subcontractors, and technical teams.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have minimum 8 years of experience managing technical projects supporting Federal Government customers.
  • Must have minimum 5 years of experience managing electronic security system projects in DoD, DoS, or other high-security federal environments.
  • Must have strong understanding of integrated electronic security system architectures, installation practices, and lifecycle support.
  • Must have demonstrated experience managing projects involving:
    • Access Control Systems
    • Intrusion Detection Systems
    • CCTV / Video Management Systems
    • Networked IP-based security infrastructure
  • Must have strong knowledge of project management methodologies, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Must have experience coordinating engineering, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, Information Technology, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Experience with design-build or large-scale infrastructure modernization projects
  • Familiarity with government contracting and federal acquisition processes
  • Experience with enterprise security platforms such as:
    • Lenel OnGuard
    • Milestone XProtect
    • Genetec Security Center
    • Hirsch Velocity
    • AMAG Symmetry
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Experience supporting proposal development and technical solutioning
  • Familiarity with Costpoint or similar project/accounting systems
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher
Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (minimum secret)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel may range from 10%–50% depending on program requirements.
  • Domestic travel to government and military facilities is required.
  • Candidate must be capable of obtaining and maintaining required identification credentials for access to secure federal facilities and military installations.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in office, construction, and secure facility environments.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.
  • Ability to inspect installations and access equipment in field environments.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and navigate active construction environments as required.
