We are seeking a Project Manager to Lead and manage complex, client-facing projects from planning through delivery, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction, strong relationship management, and successful execution within scope, schedule, and budget. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients and plays a critical role in delivering high-quality outcomes while supporting team performance and business growth.
General Job Duties:
  • Lead all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and within scope
  • Serve as the main client liaison and primary point of contact for all project communications
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing concerns and managing expectations
  • Manage project scope, schedules, resources, financials, and change orders
  • Ensure projects meet or exceed Quoted Gross Margin (QGM) targets
  • Schedule and manage project resources up to 20 weeks in advance
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation (budgets, schedules, reports, meeting notes)
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks, issues, and escalation paths
  • Collaborate with technical teams to define tasks and execution strategies
  • Oversee subcontractors and third-party resources as needed
  • Ensure contractual obligations and documentation are met throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support sales efforts by identifying upsell opportunities and participating in client engagements
  • Drive operational improvements, cost savings, and process efficiencies
  • Represent GrayMatter at client meetings, networking events, and industry functions as needed
  • This role is located onsite in Omaha, NE with requested 20% - 30% travel including potential overnight travel
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
  • 5โ€“7 years of project management experience, preferably in a client-facing environment
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with competing priorities
  • Strong project management expertise (scope, schedule, financial control)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client relationship skills
  • Financial acumen and negotiation capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project scheduling tools
  • Experience in industrial automation environments preferred
  • PMP certification or similar is a plus
  • Familiarity with SCADA, HMI, PLC, MES, and related industrial software is preferred
