Job description

We are growing our Operations team at PPC Flexible Packaging!

In this role you will...

As a Film Slitter Operator, you will be responsible to understand and operate all slitter equipment functions required to produce quality product in a safe manner by following company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure product does not become contaminated in any way
  • Ensure the equipment is maintained to ensure that it operates as designed and is safe at all times.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with the operation of all safety devices on the slitters.
  • Read and interpret the Job Jacket.
  • Operate and understand all aspects of all the slitters.
  • Set up and operate RADIUS system.
  • Complete job checkout before starting production.
  • Complete Line Clearance Form. Fill out Master Roll Tally Sheet for each job.
  • Loading WIP master rolls into unwinds in correct direction.
  • Load and position empty cores, cut to the proper size, on rewind shafts.
  • Operate the edge guide, the impression, and footage counters.
  • Operate the tension controls.
  • Learn proper splicing techniques.
  • Weigh finish rolls accurately.
  • Proper roll put up on finished pallets.
  • Properly use colored poly bags.
  • Properly operate the core cutter.
  • Pull samples for QA Lab per the job jacket.
  • Operate the label computer.
  • Proper completion of roll core tags.
  • Weigh waste and complete waste tickets.
  • Monitor quality of material being produced and understand QA Hold tag system.
  • Follow all GMP's to avoid product contamination.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean per SQF Food Safety requirements.
  • Perform Operator assigned preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Understand scheduling board and scheduling cards.
  • Troubleshoot as necessary.

Minimal Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required

PPE Required: Hairnet, Cut Resistant Gloves, Safety Glasses, Safety Shoes (Steel Toed)

Physical Requirements: Must be able lift a maximum of 50 lbs.

Training: Each new employee or current employee who transfers to a new position receives a minimum of two weeks of OJT working with individual(s)who are assigned to that position. This allows the trainee to work around the equipment and learn all the duties required with the necessary assistance or guidance available.
