Job description

TEXAS LEHIGH CEMENT COMPANY LP - Houston, TX

PAY: $33 - $37/hr Based on Experience

Job Summary:

Control and coordinate plant resources to troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain plant equipment as required, to meet production demands and prevent failures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain awareness of plant operating costs and budget targets.
  • Properly operate all the process equipment included in the plant and centralized control system.
  • Make real-time adjustments to equipment and process variables to maintain product quality and meet production targets.
  • Generate required operating and laboratory reports.
  • Monitor and understand air pollution control device operation and permit requirements to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Support and maintain the plant safety program through day-to-day safety contacts with employees, hold department toolbox talks, inspect work areas, conditions and requirements are observed and comply with company safety standards.
  • Other duties assigned by department manager.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of process control systems and proper operating principles
  • Previous experience in a control room or plant operations role, preferably in cement or related industry
  • Familiar with quality control principles, quality control instruments, and their operating procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all departments at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work 12 – hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in demanding physical conditions including walking over rough and uneven surfaces, climbing ladders up to 20 feet and stairs, bending, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions, working in confined spaces, sitting for extended periods of time, and lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE that could include Steel Toe Boots/Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, and Respirators.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to pass required background checks, physical examination, and drug screening

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Technical or vocation training in related fields preferred
