Job description

Help Launch a Brand-New High-Tech Manufacturing Operation!

Kelly® is hiring Shipping Associates for an exciting direct-hire opportunity in partnership with Silvus Technologies, a Motorola Solutions company in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In this role, you’ll help ship advanced radio communication products designed to remain operational when traditional infrastructure is unavailable. These products primarily support military applications, along with other industries that rely on secure and dependable communication.

You’ll manage outbound shipments from beginning to end, including inspecting products, preparing packaging and documentation, coordinating carriers, tracking deliveries, and communicating with customers when information needs to be verified.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, dependable shipping professional who wants to join a growing high-tech operation from the beginning and help establish efficient, accurate, and reliable shipping processes.

DIRECT HIRE

Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st shift
Pay: $21.00–$23.00 per hour, based on experience
Work Environment: Fully onsite in a clean, organized, high-tech facility

6-8 Weeks of Hands-On Training in Los Angeles
  • Fly to Los Angeles on Sunday evening

  • Fly home for the weekend

This training provides the opportunity to learn established shipping processes, systems, and expectations before transitioning into the new Salt Lake City operation.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing outbound domestic and international shipments from preparation through delivery

  • Inspecting products and orders before shipment to verify quantity, condition, accuracy, and documentation

  • Selecting appropriate packaging materials and securely packing sensitive, high-value electronic products

  • Preparing shipping labels, packing slips, commercial invoices, carrier documents, and international shipping paperwork

  • Processing shipments through FedEx, UPS, DHL, and other carrier systems

  • Coordinating carrier pickups, freight services, transportation schedules, and delivery timelines

  • Tracking shipments and communicating delays, delivery concerns, or documentation issues

  • Contacting customers when necessary to verify shipping addresses, order details, or delivery information

  • Entering shipping, order, and inventory information into company computer systems

  • Using programs such as Oracle, Excel, and Google Workspace

  • Maintaining accurate and organized electronic shipping records

  • Coordinating with Production, Quality, Inventory, Purchasing, and Customer Service teams

  • Maintaining inventories of boxes, labels, packing materials, and other shipping supplies

  • Monitoring packaging-material usage and replenishing supplies before shortages affect operations

  • Supporting the packaging and transportation of materials for trade shows, demonstrations, and company events

  • Operating forklifts and powered pallet jacks after completing company-provided training and certification

  • Assisting with receiving, inventory, and material-handling responsibilities as operational needs require

  • Maintaining clean, organized, and safety-compliant shipping, packing, and storage areas

This Position May Be a Great Fit If You
  • Have a high school diploma or GED

  • Have at least one year of experience using FedEx, UPS, DHL, or similar carrier systems

  • Have previous shipping experience in manufacturing, electronics, distribution, logistics, or another fast-paced environment

  • Have experience preparing domestic or international commercial shipments

  • Understand the importance of accurate shipping and customs documentation

  • Are confident using computers and comfortable learning new systems

  • Are proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word

  • Are comfortable using Google Workspace applications

  • Can manage competing priorities and meet multiple shipping deadlines

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Are comfortable contacting customers to verify shipping or order information

  • Bring excellent attention to detail, accuracy, dependability, flexibility, and teamwork

  • Are willing to learn new systems and take on evolving responsibilities as the Salt Lake City operation grows

  • Can complete approximately two weeks of training in Los Angeles

Preferred Qualifications
  • Domestic and international shipping experience

  • Experience preparing commercial invoices, packing lists, labels, and export documentation

  • Shipping or logistics experience in a manufacturing or electronics environment

  • Familiarity with ERP, WMS, inventory-control, or order-processing systems

  • Experience with Oracle, Excel, and Google Workspace

  • Experience coordinating freight carriers and monitoring shipment status

  • Knowledge of proper packaging practices and shipping-area safety requirements

  • Experience handling sensitive, high-value, technical, or electronic products

  • Forklift or powered pallet jack experience

Previous equipment certification is helpful but not required. The company will provide training and certification on the specific forklifts and powered equipment used at the Salt Lake City facility.

A Growing Company With a Technology-Focused Culture

The Salt Lake City operation is expanding because of significant business growth—not employee turnover. The facility is clean and organized, and the culture has been described as a collaborative “tech community” filled with people who enjoy computers, electronics, and building things.

The company values employees who are comfortable using computers, willing to learn, attentive to detail, and excited to help develop a new operation.

Career Growth and Employee Perks
  • Opportunity to join a new facility from the beginning

  • Internal promotion opportunities as the operation grows

  • Cross-training in shipping, inventory, receiving, and related operational functions

  • Company-provided forklift and powered-equipment training

  • Quarterly performance bonus opportunities

  • Lunch provided three times per week

  • Clean, organized, high-tech work environment

  • Low employee turnover

  • Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities as the shipping team expands

  • Part-time students are welcome

The advancement structure for Shipping and Warehouse employees is currently being developed. Employees who demonstrate dependability, technical aptitude, attention to detail, and leadership potential may have opportunities to grow as the Salt Lake City team becomes established.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to bend and reach when placing materials on lower or upper shelves

  • Ability to kneel or squat to access lower storage locations

  • Ability to stand, walk, pack, and move materials throughout the workday

  • Ability to safely use shipping, warehouse, and material-handling equipment

  • Ability to work in onsite office, warehouse, production, and shipping environments

Additional Requirements
  • Due to work performed under U.S. federal contracts, candidates must qualify as a U.S. Person, meaning a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug screening.

  • Employees are required to wear a protective smock when entering designated production areas.

Join a growing high-tech organization, receive hands-on training in California, and help build the shipping operation at a brand-new Salt Lake City facility.
