What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a syndicate analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Syndicate Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and a background in finance or economics, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with financial modeling tools, Bloomberg Terminal, and proficiency in Excel are typically required. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are crucial soft skills for coordinating deals and managing client relationships. These skills and qualities are essential to ensure accurate deal execution, effective teamwork, and successful outcomes in high-stakes capital markets transactions.

What are syndicates in the context of finance and business?

In finance and business, a syndicate is a temporary alliance of companies, financial institutions, or investors who come together to handle large transactions that would be difficult to manage individually. Commonly, syndicates are formed to underwrite and distribute new issues of securities, such as stocks or bonds, or to finance large loans. By pooling resources and sharing risk, syndicate members can participate in deals that might otherwise be too risky or capital-intensive for a single entity. Once the transaction is completed, the syndicate usually dissolves.

What is a syndicate?

A Syndicate job typically refers to a role within a financial institution where professionals help manage and coordinate the syndication of securities, loans, or investments. This can involve working with multiple lenders, underwriters, or investors to structure and distribute financial products like bonds or syndicated loans. Syndicate professionals ensure smooth execution, manage risk distribution, and facilitate communication between parties. The role requires strong financial knowledge, negotiation skills, and an ability to work under tight deadlines.

What is the difference between Syndicate vs Underwriter?

AspectSyndicateUnderwriter
CredentialsTypically requires insurance or finance certificationsRequires similar certifications, often actuarial or insurance licenses
Work EnvironmentOperates within insurance markets, often in Lloyd's or similar marketsWorks in insurance companies, banks, or financial institutions
Industry UsageCommonly used in insurance and reinsurance marketsUsed across insurance, banking, and finance sectors
Job FocusShares risk by pooling and spreading insurance risksAssesses and evaluates risks for underwriting policies

While both Syndicates and Underwriters are involved in the insurance industry, Syndicates typically refer to groups pooling risks within markets like Lloyd's, whereas Underwriters evaluate and accept individual risks for insurance companies. Understanding these roles helps clarify their distinct functions within the insurance process.

How does a professional in a syndicate role typically collaborate with multiple stakeholders during deal structuring?

In a syndicate role, professionals often act as intermediaries, coordinating between issuers, investment banks, and investors to ensure smooth execution of transactions such as IPOs or bond issuances. This collaboration involves managing communication, aligning interests, and distributing responsibilities among various parties. Effective syndicate team members are skilled at balancing competing priorities and maintaining transparency, which is crucial for building trust and achieving successful deals. Regular meetings, clear documentation, and responsive communication are standard practices in this collaborative process.

Job description

Reports to: Account Director

Classification: Exempt, Full Time

Contract Length: September 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027

WHO WE ARE

We are Thesis. Proudly headquartered in Portland, OR, while serving clients globally for over 20 years. Thesis is a creative agency that drives business success through marketing across technology, strategy and operations.

THE JOB

The Digital Program Specialist is the operational engine behind our content syndication and partner production efforts. This role is responsible for the day-to-day execution, creation of detailed creative briefs, and coordination between client stakeholders and our internal agency team. The Specialist will play a critical role in sourcing, organizing, and vetting creative assets to ensure the design team has the breadth and depth of inputs needed to produce high-performing partner content.

AS A PERSON, YOU ARE:

  • A strategic partner. You have an intimate understanding of external stakeholders and internal business operations, and use this expertise to chart the path forward.

  • Tactful. You excel in building healthy, successful relationships with fellow Thesians and clients alike. You manage and resolve conflicts and challenges through proactive feedback, kind conversation, and problem solving.

  • An experienced leader and collaborator. You employ your past experiences to effectively guide and inspire, empowering a cross-functional team to recognize need and proactively solve.

  • An expert negotiator. You are experienced and successful at anticipating and proactively solving challenges through data-informed action and remain composed, assured, and effective under pressure.

  • Perceptive. You can read a room and stay one step ahead of potential risks and opportunities — all whilst cultivating and upholding critical relationships.

  • An Excellent Communicator. You will work closely and effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • A Master at Prioritization. You handle competing priorities with grace, and follow through on projects to timely and successful completion.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
  • Draft Clear and Actionable Briefs. Translate brand inputs and seasonal requirements into clear, comprehensive creative briefs for agency partner to execute against.

  • Manage Day-to-Day Syndication. Be the main point of contact for the asset production workflows across syndication platforms, including Syndigo and Firework, ensuring all deliverables meet brief specs and deadlines.

  • Facilitate Review and Approval Loops. Coordinate deliverable handoffs between agency team and MPU leads, tracking feedback and securing timely sign-offs.

  • Source and Curate Creative Assets. Proactively search, identify, and gather diverse asset options (VCs, imagery, copy elements, video clips, brand guidelines) to provide rich creative breadth for agency team.

  • Manage Asset Repository. Catalog and organize assets within internal asset management systems, ensuring all creative files are accessible, rights-cleared, and up-to-date.

  • Evaluate Asset Quality. Review incoming assets against brand standards and creative specification prior to brief handoff to prevent production delays. Create content gap analysis to ensure feedback is engrained into future planning.

  • Track Timelines and Deliverables. Maintain project trackers and status documents within Airtable to monitor the daily flow of information and deliverables between Nike, Program Lead, and Agency team.

  • Flag Operational Bottlenecks. Identify early warning signs of workflow delays or missing inputs and escalate them to the Program Lead with proposed tactical fixes.

  • Support Seasonal Rollouts. Assist in executing the step-by-step launch tasks for the Seasonal Content Syndication program, ensuring adherence to timelines.

AS FOR EXPERIENCE, YOU NEED:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Marketing, Business, Advertising, Communications or a related field.

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in project management and client relations.

  • A solid foundation in digital platforms and strategies.

  • Capable of initiating projects from scratch and seeing them through to full execution.

  • To be an independent operator who builds bridges and drives teamwork.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The following capabilities are required in order to perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations that do not create an undue burden on the agency are available to address the following requirements.

  • Using standard office equipment, computers, and related technology.

  • Certain activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.

  • Bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.

  • No travel is anticipated for this role.

  • Thesis operates using a flexible hybrid model, work occurs remotely two days/week and in the office three days/week.

  • As a proud B-Corp, Thesis prioritizes candidates based in the Portland Metro area to allow for a hybrid working set-up in our beautiful office in NW Portland.
