Job description

Description

The Municipal Syndicate Operations Analyst is a specialized capital markets operations role supporting the execution, regulatory processing, and settlement of municipal bond primary market activity, including both competitive and negotiated underwritings. The ideal candidate will work closely with all members of the internal deal team including underwriters, investment bankers, sales and operations, as well as external partners including bond counsel, municipal advisors, and syndicate members to ensure timely, accurate and compliant execution of transactions. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively during time‑sensitive issuance cycles. The Analyst supports complex municipal deal structures, regulatory requirements, and syndicate workflows, developing expertise in municipal capital markets, MSRB regulations, and underwriting lifecycle controls. Additionally, you may participate in special projects to drive process improvement.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Support day- to-day operations of the institutional municipal underwriting desk. Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Support municipal order periods by maintaining accurate deal terms in book-building systems and assisting with allocation and pricing workflows
  • Maintain accurate municipal new issue data in Bloomberg and other underwriting systems throughout the issuance lifecycle
  • Reconcile transaction revenue, expenses, and settlement activity to support accurate deal closeout and financial reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve trade, settlement, and deal-data discrepancies while escalating operational or regulatory risks as appropriate.
  • Monitor and support MSRB EMMA regulatory submissions, ensuring required documentation is filed accurately and within established deadlines
  • Setup new issue information into Deals Database and Ipreo Municipal Bookbuild
  • Order CUSIPs for competitive and negotiated deals
  • Ensure accuracy of deal data and ticket information in Ipreo, Bloomberg, and Deals Database
  • Communicate pre-sale good faith notification emails to internal partners. Coordinate good faith and closing wires
  • Review deal file checklist for all transactions and prepare deal files for closure
  • Process MSRB G-11 Syndicate Settlements
  • Process Private Placements settlements
  • Assists in the reviewing of official statements, bond purchase agreements, issue price certificates and closing memos as needed
  • Distributing offering material for competitive and negotiated offerings
  • Work with sales and trading desk to ensure smooth execution of transactions including interacting with operations
  • Maintain adherence to firm policies and procedures
  • Conduct continuing disclosure lookbacks on Issuers for negotiated or competitive underwritings
  • Complete Form G-32 Filings
  • Assist with Risk and Audit requests and inquiries
  • Provide operational support, as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years municipal underwriting operations, fixed income operations, or similar broker dealer operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • FINRA Series 52 or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Experience in fixed income securities, particularly municipal bonds
  • Knowledge of municipal bond products and issuance structures, competitive and negotiated offerings, tax-exempt and taxable bonds, private placements, and syndicated transactions.
  • Experience utilizing Bloomberg TOMs, Ipreo BookBuild, EMMA, and other municipal underwriting and settlement platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; adaptive to change
  • Ability to create and foster strong partnerships with internal and external business partners
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills to identify issues and assist with resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience managing new issues across asset classes, with a focus on Municipal securities

Compensation Range:

77,000.00 - 154,000.00 Annual

The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education.  Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.  In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
