FedChoice is looking for a Business Systems Manager to oversee Credit Union program, project, and portfolio management, ensuring effective planning, governance, and alignment with strategic and operational goals. Leads program management to ensure successful delivery of outcomes, appropriate governance, vendor oversight, and long-term strategic alignment. Directs project management activities from initiation through completion, ensuring projects meet business, technical, budgetary, and timeline requirements while effectively allocating resources and leading project teams. Establishes standards, guidelines, and best practices for managing the Credit Union's portfolio of systems and services, including ongoing portfolio reviews.
Key Areas of Focus...
  • Business Strategy & Planning

Sets policies, standards, and guidelines for how the organization conducts program, project, and portfolio strategy development and planning.
Develops, communicates, implements, and reviews the processes that ensure that the strategic management of projects is embedded in the management and operational plans of the organization.
  • Effective management of Business Solutions personnel, ensuring optimal performance.

Recruits, coaches, schedules, trains, motivates, disciplines, and conducts performance reviews for department staff. Ensures staff is well-informed, properly trained, effective, and optimally utilized.
  • Effective management of core processing system and core systems.

Ensures the security of member information and effectiveness of access controls, in compliance with NCUA guidelines and audit requirements.
Manages core system vendor relationships and performance, maintaining effective professional working relationships.
Oversees and coordinates all core system releases, updates, upgrades, and enhancements, working closely with vendors and internal departments.
  • Information Services (IS) Strategy & Planning

Contributes to the development of IT policies, standards, and strategic planning processes, ensuring Information Services solutions and governance are aligned with and embedded in the organization's business strategy and operational plans.
  • Operational/Strategic Change

Analyzes business unit challenges and change requests, recommends and develops cost-effective solutions aligned with operational and strategic priorities, manages the change portfolio, and oversees end-to-end implementation of technical projects.
  • Business Process Improvement

Analyzes business processes, evaluates alternatives, and recommends feasible, technology-enabled solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Enterprise & Business Architecture

Leads the development and ongoing review of systems capability and enterprise architecture strategies aligned with the Credit Union's business objectives.
Identifies and prioritizes market trends, business needs, and strategic opportunities, articulating the business benefits of alternative approaches.
  • Project Management

Leads medium-scale projects with direct business impact, overseeing scope, approach, execution, and successful delivery.
  • Requirements Definition & Management

Facilitates scoping and business priority-setting for medium-sized change initiatives.
Elicits, analyzes, and documents business requirements, ensuring alignment with objectives, fitness for purpose, and traceability to source.
  • Staff, Vendors and Business Partners Mnagement

Collaborates with developers, subject matter experts, and business units to define technical solutions, balancing usability, performance, and business needs.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Provides senior-level technical support, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for core-connected servers, networks, telecommunications, and data storage systems.
Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
You should have:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, project management, business systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. ITIL Foundations certification. Project management certifications are highly desired. Scrum product management certified.
  • Minimum of six years of business experience, preferably in the financial services industry, with experience in corporate projects, project management, portfolio management, process mapping, and business relationship management.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Symitar system processing, administration, operations, and backup and recovery as well as Symitar Ease.
  • Knowledge of systems integrated with Symitar core including Synergy, cash flow management, laser checks, home banking, mobile banking, audio teller, etc.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving; operational knowledge; excellent communication and interpersonal skills including ability to interact and consult with staff at all levels, as well as external business partners.
  • Business relationship management skills and knowledge.
  • Proven project management skills.
