About the Role

We are seeking an experienced PowerOn Developer to design, develop, and support custom solutions within the Jack Henry Symitar Episys core banking platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PowerOn scripting, core banking operations, and integrations with Symitar APIs and third-party systems. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, operations teams, and IT leadership to deliver scalable and efficient solutions that improve member and employee experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain PowerOn programs and scripts within the Symitar Episys environment.
  • Build custom workflows, reports, automation, and member-facing solutions.
  • Develop and support integrations using SymXchange, SymConnect, REST APIs, and third-party applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to PowerOn applications and batch processes.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Optimize existing PowerOn code for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Support core processing, month-end/year-end activities, audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and development standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers when applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on Symitar Episys PowerOn development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of credit union or banking operations.
  • Experience with PowerOn scripting, batch processing, and automation.
  • Familiarity with Symitar data structures, accounts, loans, deposits, and general ledger modules.
  • Experience with SQL for reporting and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, SOAP/XML, and web service integrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SymXchange and SymConnect integrations.
  • Experience with PowerForms, JavaScript, Python, or related scripting languages.
  • Symitar Episys certifications.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Prior experience supporting credit unions or financial institutions.
