Key Responsibilities

  • The position is approximately 50% fieldwork and 50% office/flex remote work on industrial/commercial
  • Work under the supervision of a Senior Geologist / Scientist or Project Manager
  • Proactively seek project work from project managers and comply with directions from project managers
  • Assist in fieldwork planning and coordination, including health and safety plan development, locating and ordering field supplies, coordination with subcontractors
  • Complete online research or electronic database or paper file searches
  • Design and oversight of groundwater monitoring wells, DPT, and sampling plans
  • Supervise drilling and remediation subcontractors and provide written documentation of field activities
  • Stratigraphic logging of soil borings and split spoons
  • Collect soil, groundwater, surface water, remediation system, and sediment samples for lab analysis
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing field equipment and systems
  • Analyze and interpret analytical results and assist with the preparation of site assessment reports
  • Assist in preparation of permit applications, data tables, figures, and boring logs/well construction diagrams
  • Field mapping and map preparation and maintaining spreadsheets/databases of chemical results and other data for projects, preparing charts, conducting routine scientific calculations, and using computer programs
  • Follow company safety standards, participate in safety training and prepare and implement site safety plans
  • Travel to project sites in Georgia and surrounding states.ย  Approximately 20% of overnight travel
Skills / Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Geology or geology-relatedย degree (geology preferred, other sciences will be considered)
  • 3 - 5 years +ย environmental experience
  • Experience with environmental field activities including installing monitoring wells, gauging monitoring wells, and collecting soil and groundwater samples
  • Self-starter with good communication, writing skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and strong time management capabilities
  • 40-hour Hazwoper OSHA Training (preferred, not required)
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites in Georgia and surrounding states.ย  Approximately 20% of overnight travel
  • Will be required to lift equipment and carry laboratory samples
  • Must pass a drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Preferred

  • Experience with ArcGIS and/or CAD software
  • Experience conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in industrial settings
  • Working knowledge of Georgia environmental regulations and reporting
  • Experience preparing SWPPP and/or SPCC Plans

Physical Demands

  • Fieldwork in outdoor environments
  • Will be required to lift equipment and carry laboratory samples.ย  Requires the ability to lift 40 pounds
