Job description

Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Engineer III (Civil-Site Development & Permitting) in Atlanta, GA/Fort Mill, SC. This is a full-time direct-hire assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive compensation package including benefits, vacation, and holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as an Engineer III (Civil-Site Development & Permitting) Provide engineering and technical expertise to solve complex civil-site development and permitting challenges for utility substations, transmission lines, battery storage facilities, and renewable energy projects. This role includes both technical project work and support for project management activities, including schedules, budgets, and deliverables. The Engineer III is expected to lead discipline-specific work, perform responsible engineering, and interact directly with client engineering teams.

As an Engineer III YOU will: Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering, technical, and civil-site design problems. Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities with minimal supervision. Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.

Develop and improve engineering knowledge, technical skills, processes, and performance. Prepare and interpret substation civil-site drawing packages following industry standards and best practices. Support project managers with schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communication.

Interact daily with customer engineers, maintain professional client relationships, and present solutions. Monitor project deliverables and provide timely updates. Mentor junior engineers and contribute leadership within the discipline.

Perform additional duties as assigned. YOU are the ideal Engineer III candidate if you have: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. 3-5 years of engineering experience.

Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within one year. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, write reports, and communicate effectively. Strong mathematical skills, including rates, ratios, percentages, and spreadsheet interpretation.

Ability to interpret technical instructions and work with both abstract and concrete variables. Strong research, problem-solving, and recommendation skills. Ability to work independently or collaboratively, with strong communication skills.

Understanding of advanced civil engineering and permitting concepts. It's a BONUS if you have: Project management capabilities, including task coordination and staff oversight. Experience preparing proposals, contracts, and feasibility studies.

Experience with zoning, environmental studies, stormwater management, and due diligence efforts. Experience developing site plans, grading plans, drainage plans, and erosion/sedimentation control plans. Ability to prepare civil calculations (earthwork, drainage, stormwater, erosion control).

Experience interpreting and applying local, state, and federal regulations. Ability to obtain a variety of permits (erosion, stormwater, zoning, building, special use, etc.). Experience with site visits, construction oversight, and civil design modifications

Knowledge of construction permit compliance (NPDES, CGP, SWPPP, etc.). Experience mentoring junior staff or working with multi-disciplinary teams. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcMap/ESRI, Microsoft Office, and HydroCAD
