Who We Are:
Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan.  The District has 1 early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9th 12 grade campuses.  The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

What We Need: 
Under the direct supervision of the Technology Manager for Diverse Learners and indirectly to the Executive Director for Information Technology Services this position will provide district switchboard support for all incoming calls and when necessary verbal bilingual interpretation/translation to provide increased support to parents and community stakeholders entering Lincoln Center and limited data/technical support to the ITS Department. This individual must have strong multi-tasking skills and an in-depth knowledge of WPS programs to direct parents and visitors to the appropriate department and/or school.  In addition, this person must have strong communication and computer skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1.  Answer phones and route phone calls to the appropriate division/office.
  2. Insure that a callers' first contact with WPS is friendly, professional and helpful.
  3. Interpret and translate for visitors to Lincoln Center, when necessary, in assisting and helping direct them to the appropriate division/office.
  4. Check voicemail and respond in a timely manner throughout each day.
  5. Place tolls calls for WPS Staff when requested.
  6. Assist in the management of district extension number assignments.
  7. Program call manager for extension changes and/or new phone replacement.
  8. Communicate with schools and departments to insure correct extension number assignments.
  9. Assist IT Department with student and staff devices turned in, at LC.  This would involve an inspection and receipt to student and/or staff.
  10. Assist IT Data Team with managing new address requests and removing invalid/incorrect household phone numbers, for the Student Information System.
  11. Assist with any additional job related data entry and job related duties which may include but are not limited to: inventory management, etc.

Qualifications: 

  1. Commitment to the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels.
  2. Strong computer skills.
  3. Excellent organizational skills.
  4. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  5. Friendly and professional interpersonal skill with a strong customer service orientation.
  6. Ability to care for minute details and editing skills to ensure reliable and accurate results; verifying information for accuracy.
  7. Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm and the ability to pass required proficiency test(s)

Work Environment:  Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.

Terms of Employment:  Twelve months

Compensation:  Class 1A WPSS Contract Salary Structure
