Job description

Job Summary:
The Finishing Operator will be responsible for finishing machined parts by setting up and operating manual and/or computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining all quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment/supplies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Reading blueprints, specifications, and drawings
  • Setting up various machines including tools changes and offsets, compensation and conditional switches
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturers instructions
  • Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces while adhering to standards
  • Maintaining specifications by observing and taking measurements
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Documenting actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publication, etc.
  • Communicating status of work orders and irregularities
  • Explore opportunities to add value in work area

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Understanding work order, blueprints, control plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, critical surfaces/edges, and machining parameters while interpreting geometric dimension and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Understanding work instructions ad zero/reference points
  • Understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Positive and proactive attitude toward completing work orders
  • Willingness to learn and grow through Sun Hydraulics
  • Meeting commitments and obligations

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Technical college degree preferred
  • 2+ years' experience using production machinery
  • Experience working with a Mazak Star/Integrex or Swiss Lathes a plus

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • Prolonged period of sitting
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds at times
