Job Title: Sub-Pool Director / Head Swim Coach
Location: The Field Cub of Greenwich, Incorporated
Seasonal Position: May - September
Reports To: Pool/Aquatics Director
Position Summary
The Field Club of Greenwich, Incorporated is seeking an energetic and responsible Sub-Pool Director / Head Swim Coach to support the daily operations of our Main Pool and Kiddie Pool for the 2026 summer season. This role works closely with the Pool/Aquatics Director and serves as the acting Pool Director when he/she is not on site. The Sub-Pool Director also leads the swim team program, coordinates pool events, and helps ensure a safe, welcoming, and fun aquatic environment for members and guests.
Season Dates & Schedule
Start Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Season Runs: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend
Extended Weekends: Pool open limited hours for two weekends after Labor Day (weather permitting)
Pool Hours of Operation
Monday-Friday: 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Camp Season (June 22 - July 31)
Pool opens at 9:00 a.m.
Adult swim: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., two days per week
Expected workload: 45 hours per week
Availability required on weekdays, weekends and major holiday weekends
Key Responsibilities
Pool Operations & Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the Main Pool and Kiddie Pool
Serve as acting Pool Director in the Director's absence
Supervise lifeguards and dive instructors
Enforce safety rules and pool regulations
Ensure a positive, professional environment
Be on site during all pool operating hours
Camp & Pool Programming
Collaborate with Camp Director on swim programming for campers ages 3-9
Organize daily instruction and free swim time
Coordinate family-oriented swim events
Head Swim Coach Duties
Plan and lead 1.5-2 hour daily swim team practices
Prepare for swim meets
Coordinate schedules with Dive Coach
Recruit swim team members
Provide feedback and evaluations
Identify Assistant Swim Coach candidates
Qualifications
Previous experience in aquatics management or swim coaching preferred
Current lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours
