Is able to independently teach assigned classes and works under the general supervision of the Lesson Supervisor and/or Recreation Program Supervisor; responsible for required paperwork. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings and weekends

Performs other duties as assigned. Senior Swim Instructor The starting salary for Senior Swim Instructors is $20.00 hourly. Responsible for teaching "Learn to Swim" lessons and/or exercise classes; responsible for maintaining a safe environment to teach in; provides routine customer service, helps with planning and implementing programs; assists with class area set-up and clean-up and facility maintenance

May function as mentor to less experienced staff and is able to teach a wider variety of courses than lesser classified staff. Is able to independently teach assigned classes and works under the general supervision of the Lesson Supervisor and/or Recreation Program Supervisor; responsible for required paperwork. Essential Job Functions Qualifications Swim Instructor QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid (American Red Cross preferred). Swimming skills are necessary and must be effectively demonstrated prior to employment.

Must be able to communicate with students in a pool environment. EXPERIENCE: General knowledge of swimming. Some prior teaching experience and working with youth preferred.

EDUCATION: High school student or above Senior Swim Instructor QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid (American Red Cross preferred). Certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or equivalent certification from another agency) and certification in Lifeguard Training is preferred. Swimming skills are necessary.

Must be able to effectively demonstrate swimming skills and communicate with students in a pool environment. EXPERIENCE: General knowledge of swimming. At least one year of prior experience teaching learn to swim or water fitness courses, or equivalent instructional experience.
