Job description

Overview: General Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing company vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Repair and rebuild defective components, including engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Fabricate and repair metal parts as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Perform maintenance on company vehicles/machinery/equipment, which include oil changes, inspections, and other routine checks.
  • Repair company vehicles/machinery/equipment.
  • Maintain company tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure proper use.
  • Ensure the practice of safety standards in accordance with company policies and OSHA.
  • Operate a service truck when needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Any other tasks as assigned by the Shop Manager
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training in mechanics, equipment maintenance, or related fields preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in equipment/vehicle maintenance and mechanical repair.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience reading equipment manuals, schematics, or technical diagrams.
  • Must have basic hand tools up to ยฝ" drive.
  • Ability to read and understand Service Manuals.
  • Ability to use or learn to use diagnostic software.
  • Competent with computers, including email and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain a Swank Driver File, including a PennDOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, MVR check, and background check

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Class 7 Inspection License
  • Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement
  • Knowledge of Welding and Fabrication
  • Able to operate and work on various different types of equipment and trucks.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer or mobile device for extended periods.
  • Must be able to regularly lift, push, pull, and carry at least 40 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and crawl for extended periods.
  • Will work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work in environments with noise, heat, cold, dust, fumes, and other typical shop or field conditions.
  • Ability to travel independently to company meetings or vendor locations when needed.
